Microsoft Security Update is blocking my VLC App on my Sony TV

well you would need to give us more specific about exactly what you think is blocking it

Smart TVs frequently required to give permissions to access them, Sony TVs are run by Google software, not Microsoft, and if you're casting to them they use very standard network protocols and established procedures

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Xbox Community. I understand that you're having issues playing your media files from your Windows laptop to your VLC media player.

If you're referring to DLNA, please ensure that the service is running in your laptop.

Press start and type services, then open services.

Look for "Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service" and make sure that it's running and the startup type is set to automatic.

Yes it's all shared & discoverable.

Just not streamable because of Microsoft's Security Update that's blocking Windows Media Player 12 to stream media videos on VLC on my TV.

To ensure that your router is not experiencing any issues or bugs that may cause some ports to be inaccessible, please do a power cycle by turning off the device, pulling it out of the power outlet for 50 seconds before turning it back on.

Once it boots up and regains internet access, please try to access the server.

If you're still experiencing issues even after setting up all the required settings, I would recommend that you submit it through the feedback hub so it can be reviewed by the proper teams.

I’m using the Film and Tv app to watch these, so should download a VLC player on Microsoft store or something.
