My daughter has been begging me for Robux. I begrudgingly said yes if her behavior warranted a reward. After a successful week of good behavior I was going to buy her $10 worth of Robux. I had actually added a $10 credit to her account in July 23rd(typing
this August 24th) for this particular occasion. So I log into the Microsoft webpage and go to my account. Fish around for about a half hour trying to figure out how to send her Robux.

After a frustrating 30 minutes I finally bought Robux, but on my account. I assumed, admittedly overly optimistically, that I could gift them to her or transfer them to her account. Nope. It looks like I'll have to log in as her and request to purchase(I
used the parental control to require her to ask permission to buy anything). So now the count is $10 Microsoft credit on her account and $10 worth of Robux on my account. So I log in as her, request the purchase of 800 Robux, which costs $10.

I sit for a few minutes waiting for the email I'm supposed to get from Microsoft letting me know that my kid has made a request. No email. I do a few chores, marinate some steak tips, clean up the kitchen, take another look about 2 hours later. No email.
So I log onto my account on a browser and still nothing, no request, no email.

FOUR hours later I log in one last time before I go to request a refund of my Robux, there is a request from daughter for 800 Robux. Awesome! I click "Allow" thinking we made it through and now she can buy some stupid shark gun or something. Except no, of
course not. Clicking on allow sends you to a screen that reads "For this item, you’ll need to add money to your child’s Microsoft account so they can buy it in the game. We’re working on a way to make this a seamless experience in the future.
    Add money".

Quite certain I had a $10 credit sitting in her account I opened a second browser tab to check the credit and there it was, the original $10. I surmised that the "add money" link must just be the way you take that credit and put it into an actionable state.
I click add money. It sends me through what appeared to be another purchase of an additional $10 but I was confident that Microsoft would normalize this process eventually and it would make sense to me after the fact.

I go through the process and get dumped back out onto the account home page. Now my daughter's account shows $20 and no Robux. Now I'm getting aggravated. I see that the "Allow" and "Deny" buttons are still available on the Robux request so I click allow
again. Once again "For this item, you’ll need to add money to your child’s Microsoft account so they can buy it in the game. We’re working on a way to make this a seamless experience in the future."

The hell with this, I said. I'm done, she's going to have to live without her stupid shark gun. This was Friday, August 21st. 29 days after my initial purchase of $10 in credits. I requested a refund of the two $10 credits and the $10 worth of Robux on my
account. They refunded me for the Robux but refused to refund me for the credits directing me to "read the terms of sale". So I did. There's no provision under the terms of sale that would contradict a legal refund to me.

After googling it for a few minutes it seems to me that Microsoft is doing what the insurance companies were sued for in the 1990s - denying any claim outright without a single viable metric or substantive reason. Create obstacles to fair and honest trade
practices to discourage those unwilling to jump through their hoops. In my case, I've been after $20 for going on 5 or 6 hours of frustration. We are under the $4 per hour mark. How hard would most people fight for that $20? But I'm not in it for the money
anymore. I want my aggravation back.

Beware, Microsoft. Taking advantage of thousands of people might be profitable for a while but hell hath no fury like an angry mob of litigants.

    :)

Microsoft refusing refunds is starting to sound like insurance company tactics - deny, deny, deny

I have sent them a few emails and posted this.

The only fathomable basis upon which the decision to deny my refund was made was abject greed. I have been an Xbox user since 2002 - the SOCOM, Morrowind days. I don't think I've ever asked for a refund no matter how badly I regretted buying a game or throwing
away digital currency. Within 30 days I asked to refund two unused $10 credits(one of them the same day it was purchased). The request was accompanied by a rather exhaustive explanation of why the credits weren't what I intended to buy and couldn't be used
for their intended purpose. If they said "No refunds. That's our policy and it's clearly written in black and white" I would have more respect for them than this informal "review" of the request song and dance.

I would ring them direct and ask to sort it that way.

We provide Digital Game Product refunds as part of a consistent and reliable buying experience. Most people pursuing a refund just want to solve a problem, but sometimes the system is abused. If it appears refunds are being abused, we reserve the
right to stop offering them except where legally required.

All sales of Digital Game Products are considered final, but we understand there may be extenuating circumstances. When you request a refund for these products, and depending on the purchase or content type in determining refund eligibility, we consider
a variety of factors like time since date of purchase, time since release, and use of the product.

For single-use items (like consumables or in-game currency), your request may be eligible only if the item wasn’t modified or used.

Why does Microsoft decline to give refunds for Battlefield V.

Further, the refund policy does state that Microsoft reserves the right to refuse refunds if they believe the privilege has been (or is being) abused. Have you responded to the e-mail denying the request to ask for more information?

Been reported and banned for no reason at all

Sounds like more "bully boy tactics" from Microsoft. They are happy to peddle games that include swearing and violence and then exhibit double standards in treating minor offences with a loss of service. Don't bother contacting the"ambassadors"
as they are company apologists. Complain to the company HQ directly as I had to recently.
