You have clearly bought a second hand tampered with console,microsoft have every right to refuse to honour the warranty.

Your argument should be with the person you bought it from.

There is a 90 day warranty on all controllers from Microsoft in the US. Other regions will have more as the local consumer laws in that region requires technology to have a longer warranty.

The 1 year warranty you have is from Walmart themself, that is why Microsoft will not be honouring the warranty as the 90 days has most likely lapsed on your controller.

I have a friend who lives in Europe. He said the warranty for controllers is 1 year. He also informed me that he had an issue with that warranty in the eleventh month of owning the controller. He got sick of fighting with Microsoft and bought a new

@Lestat573 I purchased my first Xbox 360 in 2006. I got the RROD in 2010. Xbox support replaced my Xbox without even mentioning a warranty. That's why I can't fathom that they could replace a console but refuse to replace a controller.

When you purchase an Xbox One console, you get a one year warranty
on the console itself, and a 90-day warranty on the controller and other accessories.

Are you using a rechargeable battery pack? Verify that the controller powers on without batteries when connected directly to the console with the USB cable. If the battery pack is refusing to charge, it may need to be replaced.

If the USB connection on the top of the controller is unstable with movement, consider replacing the cord with another one (it's a standard micro-USB cable, the same cable used by many Android phones, for example).
