"Exclusions apply" is in the fine print. There are quit a lot of exclusions, far too many to list on the back of a card.

Link to them please. Why are there so many exclusions on what I can't spend my money on?

Say I work at a store that sells prepaid cards and i get them at a discount. Then it would make more sense to buy a prepaid. What about the people who don't have credit cards?

 

Prepaid subscription cards are for those who on occasion want to add time at their leisure or do not have a creditcard or want to stack their membership

Subscription memberships comes with renewable promotions like free games or dlc or discounts like 33% of or 1 dollar a month or 2 dollars for 2 months

So subscription means you don't have to worry about runing to the store to play the latest cod because you forgot to get a 1 month or 12 month card because as soon as your membership runs out it renews for you

Many services offer prepaid and subscription services with many benefits like discounts and promotional offers for subscribers

no service offers currency to buy a subscription it's usually for in game items

Prepaid cards means you can renew at your leisure meaning you can turn silver or free membership after your prepaid time expires however you are at the mercy of the store prices unless you are lucky to get a promotion price like 30% off during holidays or
people without credit cards

Again you are talking about two different things

If you don't want subscription then you have to go prepaid

There is a reason for two tier service people who don't want renewable service must buy prepaid subscription cards

Subscribers get their own benefits

If you are use cellphone you would know this

Billing service gets better rates and security because they don't have to go out for a prepaid card

Prepaid phone services have certain rates and when your balance runs out you have to buy a card

 

I doubt you would get subscriber discounts like 33% or free games as they are subscription only

 

Exclusions include Xbox LIVE Gold subscriptions, Xbox MUSIC passes, Zune passes (now defunct), NetFlix/Hulu/App subscription services, 3rd party app purchases, various other things depending upon region.

Also working at a store doesn't give someone a discount to gift cards. Gift cards are the same as cash and legally cannot be discounted as an employment perk.

People without credit cards are able to use their banking cards or PayPal.

ngocphi -- Gold is Gold. Prepaid or credit card you still get the exact same privileges.

Yes, it is a contractual subscription service the same as a mobile phone or television service. Microsoft needs a verified form of payment that can be regularly billed the same as any other subscription service.

 

You can't do that with prepaid 12 months though.

 

You're not agreeing to a subscription with the store bought pre-paid card.

I'm done with this thread, you cannot use the balance of your Microsoft account to buy an Xbox LIVE Gold subscription. You never could and as far as I know of there are no plans to set up the ability in the future.

• They sell pre-paid Xbox LIVE Gold card literally right next to the Xbox gift cards 99.9% of the time, any store that sells these cards have people who work there who know the differences between the two

• At least a half dozen people have told you on these forums that you cannot buy a subscription with it.

So you're saying that I won't get a subscription with prepaid, which I know. I'm saying it makes no sense that the Microsoft account balance can't act the same way as the prepaid 12 month. And I'm supposed to know every exclusion when in the store? Sorry
but I dont have Xbox.com memorized. Stop telling me how dumb I am for not buying the 12 month. Maybe I wanted the option. I don't want to buy the "subscription". I want what I would have gotten with the 12 month membership which is not a subscription,

Because whenever you buy it on the 360 it is a subscription only way not to get a subscription is to buy the live cards in a store PERIOD.

No game server will allow you to use currency for game subscription only the full price prepaid subscription cards are one time payments

You cannot sit on your Couch and buy one time prepaid card direct from the server no services provides that
