Microsoft please explain.

I have $80 sitting in my Microsoft account balance that I cannot use to renew my XBL gold. Why is this? No where on the card does it say that I cannot use it to buy gold. It says restrictions apply, but does not mention any. At least put it in the fine
print. Microsoft, do you not want my money? I can happily switch to Sony if so. I don't see why you can't just take the $60 out of my account and renew my gold. I refuse to add a credit card or paypal. I hope for a quick response.

Yes, please explain. What did they suspend you for (even if you didn't do it)?
I would suggest contacting Microsoft.

On the 360 Homepage I am told i have promotional funds and need to spend them in the xbox store before 6/1/2015.

I visited the xbox store, forums, and did a google search.. And for the life of me. I've still no idea what I have nor how to spend it.

So would someone in the know break all this down to me.

It doesnt explicitly say you cant buy gold but it doesnt say that you can either. On the front it says Games, Movies and Music. You could always buy a prepaid gold card to complete your purchase

Currency FAQ: "Can I buy an Xbox Live Gold membership with the currency in my Microsoft account? Answer: The currency in your Microsoft account can’t be used to buy an Xbox Live Gold membership at this time." However, since they
just started allowing the MS Account currency to be used for the Music Pass on Xbox One I can only imagine that this will be implemented in the future at some time. However, currently your only options are to use a card (credit, debit, etc.) or purchase a
pre-paid subscription card. Hope this clarifies what is going on!

Not necessarily. The money can still be used for games and dlc and movies. Just not for xbox live gold.

 

But all I need is gold. So I have to spend $60 more to get gold. Sony is looking more and more attractive by the second.

 

Bump. I want to to see a Microsoft rep tell me that I have to spend an additional $60 just to renew my gold. Send me to Sony. Tell me you don't want to accept the 80 dollars I spent on Microsoft Currency.

 

Bumping won't get you anywhere. Xbox LIVE Gold subscriptions need a credit card, always have and always will. You could never use MSP to purchase Xbox LIVE Gold subscriptions and you cannot use your Microsoft account wallet. If you want to go buy a PS3/PS4
and deal with an inferior network that gets hacked on a regular basis just so you can have your personally identifiable information stolen go right ahead because no one here will cry.

Someone who understands. I would have no problem buying a 12 month card, if I didn't already dump my funds into the my Microsoft balance. At least let people know on the card that you cannot use it to purchase gold. Then I could understand you saying
that it was in the fine print.

 

"Exclusions apply" is in the fine print. There are quit a lot of exclusions, far too many to list on the back of a card. Why do you think they sell prepaid Gold subscriptions still if you could just buy it with your Microsoft account balance? It should
be simple logic for anyone old enough to use an Xbox.

Subscriptions are renewable payments

you don't get the same benefits as subscription payers when you go prepaid.

That's common sense

You get better discounts and better rates and the lack of hassle of runing out to the store

Just like your cable or cell phone bill

But not for someone that is not familiar with Xbox. Say a family member or friend that buys it as a gift. When someone want's to get you a present for your birthday or Christmas, but don't know what you want, the natural thing is to give you money. So
that being said, someone who has little knowledge of the Xbox gold service would think that giving someone a Xbox gift card would allow them to buy anything buyable on the Xbox live marketplace.
