Microsoft play a game 15 minutes daily isn’t working

I understand you're having trouble with the daily Microsoft Rewards task for "playing an installed game for 15 minutes" not registering since the June 21, 2025 update. You've already restarted your Xbox and reset your internet, which is a good start. Let’s go over a few other things you can try.

First, make sure you’re launching the game from “My games & apps” and not through shortcuts like Quick Resume or pins. That method seems to help the system track progress properly. Once you launch the game that way, stay in it for at least 20 minutes just to be sure.

Second, double-check that your console and the game are fully updated. You can do this by going into Settings, then System, and checking for updates.

Third, try clearing your persistent storage. You’ll find this under Settings, then Devices & connections, then Blu-ray. Select Persistent storage, then choose Clear persistent storage. This won’t affect your saved data or internet settings.

After playing the game for at least 20 minutes, fully quit it by highlighting it, pressing the Menu button, and choosing Quit. Then relaunch the game again and stay in for a bit longer. Some users have found this helps trigger the tracking.

Lastly, open the Microsoft Rewards app before and after you play. Sometimes the task shows as incomplete while in-game but updates a few minutes after you’ve exited.

If it’s still not working after that, it may be an issue on Microsoft’s end tied to the latest system update. You can report the issue directly using the “Report a problem” tool through the Xbox Insider Hub. That way, it gets logged with the right team.

In my opinion Xbox isn’t so hot, little warm but I believe it’s very normal.

This just worked for me, along with the daily play a GamePass title reward.

Its 08:15 in the UK so maybe it's fixed completely or maybe it works when there is less traffic on the servers, as I usually try in the evening when it's peak gaming hours.

I’ve had the same problem for a while now. My solution which isn’t the best solution, but it worked, is I downgraded my OS from 16 back to OS 15 and it’s working fine.. Microsoft needs to patch the Xbox app to work with OS 16.
