    Microsoft Parental Lock

I am 29, turning 30 soon. I just bought a Surface Pro 3 with windows 10 and windows required me to setup an account. Since this was going to be for more professional use I did not want to use this account (). So I setup, another account using another
Email. Everything on my surface immediately linked to that new account, EX. Office, all the apps and game that come preloaded on the surface, onedrive etc etc.

However, I can not go into Xbox Live on the other account. It says I need a parents permission. I've chatted with a Microsoft support rep and he gave me an email of the "parent" account, and told me to email them and get permission.

I have no idea who this email belongs too. I feel that this is a security risk on microsofts part. This is my account and I should have full control over it, not some person I have never heard of. In fact, I had to post on this account because, "I am not
old enough" on the other account.

Also if I go to my main account it says there is no parent in charge. Only on the Xbox live account. Skype account also works fine.

I can see that microsoft probably thinks I'm a child trying to get around a restriction but I guarantee that is not the case. I feel microsoft should have some form of Identity verification process like google or blizzard has if they are going to go this
far with security. Under no circumstance should I be locked out of parts of my own account.

My options seem to be to make another all new account and some how transfer all my product keys and what not to that one. Or for microsoft to unlock this one.

    Any insight would be great.

    :)

    Parental lock

Your friend will need to contact support 1-800-4MY-XBOX. They will be able to walk him though the steps to get the "Parental Lock" reset.

Hey, Cr4shbombs! This definitely doesn't sound like an ideal situation. I'd like to help you out, hopefully we can get this sorted.

The only reason why a child account would be made would be because of the birthday. Now, you can't change birthdays on the account (for the Xbox Account), but if you log into account.microsoft.com > Your Info > Edit your personal info, you should be able
to see your birthday there. If it's under 18, then anything related to Xbox Live will need to have that parent account approve for them.

What I can see might have happened is that this account that is considered a child was on the Xbox Live service under another account that had the Family Gold package on the Xbox 360. If this is the case, the easiest way to resolve this is by going to promote
    your account (the
    360 promote steps
are more likely to work in this case). Also, this may give you a hint as to who owns the account that you received from phone or chat support agent. Again, that's only if this is the case.

If this isn't the case, are you able to provide me a reference number for the chat you had? This may be referred to as an SR number, or they may have sent you an email with the subject having "SRX" and a set of 10 numbers after (those numbers are the reference
number). If you do, I'd like you to send it to me via private message. You can do that by clicking the envelope at the bottom of my post. If that's not something you have, then please send me the gamertag that you 're running into these issues with.

Let's see if we can nail this down. Microsoft Parental Lock :D

    Securing the parental restart

Nearly all requests for parental lock are kids trying to bypass the parental lock. The reset is easy and painless when signing into the microsoft account of the parent who created the lock code.

    good evening

    Hi Roger from Wolverhampton,

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble removing the parental lock from your Xbox 360. Here are a few steps you can try to remove the parental lock:

Try the default parental lock passcode: The default passcode for Xbox 360 parental lock is "0000" or "1234". Try entering these codes to see if it unlocks the parental control.

Reset your Xbox 360 to factory settings: This will erase all data on your console, including the parental control settings. To do this, go to "System Settings" > "Storage" > "All Devices" > "System Items" > "Hard Drive" > "Reset System Settings".

Remove the parental lock through your Microsoft account: Go to your Microsoft account on a web browser, select "Devices" > "Xbox Consoles" > "Manage" > "Remove Console" to remove the parental lock from your Xbox 360.
