Microsoft needs to improve the material and design of the bumper of the Xbox controller.

The biggest flaw of the Xbox controller, it's a bumper.

This button is very fragile, it will not recognize the operation immediately.

I'm a fan of the Forza series and enjoying livery editor, but the flaws of bumpers always irritate me.

Replacing the Xbox controller solves the problem temporarily, but similarly defective pads will also break soon and then request me more than 6000 JPY for me again. (Unfortunately, in Japan where I live, it's difficult to obtain repair parts for controllers)

Please design a more rugged bumper. Please use more durable material.

If the bumper's fault never bothers me, even if the controller price rises I don't mind.

Please design a rugged bumper like a tank.

The Xbox One Slim

There is no need for Microsoft to change the layout of there controller but to improve on it and add to it, the Xbox 1 controller does feel less solid than the 360 controller.

Xbox One Controller Analogs Too Loose? Bumpers Ok?

I honestly don't have a problem with how the new controller feels, but I do know what you mean when you refer to the sticks as being a little "loose" and the bumpers feeling a little "mouse click-y". Sure, it could be improved, as can anything. I don't really think they need it though, it's supposed to feel different being a new controller. I do miss the slight resistance my Xbox 360 controller gave me compared to the One, but as mentioned, it doesn't bother me too much.Click to expand...

I hope Microsoft does a redesign something like the way they handled the redesign of the original Xbox controller and made the improved Controller S. I like the offset analogs on the One controller more than the parallel analogs on the PS4 controller but I think the One controller just needs a few tweaks to make it perfect like tightening up the tension on the analogs a bit and changing the bumpers to a more satisfying input. The quality of the materials used in the controllers construction could be improved too.

The bumpers on my launch day Series 1 Elite Controller finally broke a few months ago. Was disappointed that an otherwise perfectly functioning controller (never had the grip issue with mine) was rendered useless because of the poor design of the bumpers.
All the development that went into the Elite and no effort was made to improve this inherent weakness in all Xbox One controllers. I repaired it myself with a replacement bumper from ebay. Never had bumper issues with any of my 360 controllers.

Yeah, I've also had the bumpers break a few times. Usually it's the plastic bumper piece, cos both bumpers are part of the same piece of plastic that flexes every time you press one, and that can crack/break. The underlying microswitches can get knocked out of position or fail too.

At least they have improved the design of the plastic bumper piece with the newest revision of controllers, so it's more durable.

Unfortunately is a design limitation. The bumpers don't have a "spring", they are a single solid plastic piece that has a narrow bridge that acts as a spring and the material wears out after extended use. When they break you can go online and buy repair
kits for only $7 or so to fix them.

But I totally hear you and feel your pain, as I had to do this repair myself on the Xbox Elite controller.

.... bumper has finally broke. just wont work ... looks like £50 is needlessly being wasted again.
