Microsoft NEEDS to have Preloading in time for Destiny on 9/9

outsell FIFA and FH2 twice over? I'm not so sure....

Pre downloading sounds like a good idea to me, even if its one i wouldn't use (at present). I'm still using disks until they lower the crazy prices of digital

 

My connection isn't too bad now I have fibre, its not as fast as I thought it would be, but its faster then it was before so I am not too bothered, though I would like it if the pre-load was available for Destiny. I was on 10meg but now im on 40meg, but
from the bedroom (a mere 2 rooms away) my xbox one can only tug in a 20meg speed with 76% strength. I haven't tested a download since switching to fibre but if it works out twice as fast I imagine the game will be installed within 45 mins.

 

If we use Madden 15 as the standard, you could preload the game and have it ready to go for today but you could not play until 3 am. That in my opinion is the worst possible thing.



If MS truly wants digital distribution to take off, this needs to be rectified ASAP. These machines know exactly what time it is locally when connected to LIVE, so this should NOT be an issue!!!

It's like reading threads about Steam five to seven years ago.

Steam had the same issues when it started doing digital pre-loads and unlocking, with everything starting out centralized around Pacific Standard Time, then later changing to be local timezones.

 

Personally I think time zones are irrelevant, IMO it should always be an international launch

 

No problem in Europe (France),never need to wait,i always been able to start at midnight.

But i found weird that's not the case in North America.

 

Cebelius, Destiny going live at 12am PST (3am EST) is Bungie's choice I believe not MS.

The servers for Destiny will already be live on 8/8 because Bungie has stated several times now that as soon as it is 9/9 somewhere in the world the servers will be going up and as we all know it will be 9/9 in areas like Australia around 17 hours ahead
of us in the US. Bungie says that when you start playing Destiny will be between you and your retailer after that point.

So if Microsoft and Sony changed the Destiny digital release date to be the same as Madden 15 at 12:00 AM Eastern Standard Time we could start playing Destiny at 9 PM 8/8 on the West Coast and 11 PM Central Time.

But they need to change the time when it becomes playable. Most of us buy digital for a reason, to start playing as soon as possible. It needs to be available at midnight our local time or set it to be available at 12:01 AM EST like Sony did with Madden
15 yesterday. Don't make Central and the East Coast wait another 2-3 hours.

 

Not being available in local time zones dissuades me. On the east coast I'd have to wait until 3am, whereas I'll go to gamestop, pick up the game, and be home by 1230am-1am

 

The Digital Guardian Edition isn't available and seems a little messed up as a listing, will have to wait a bit more to pre order (same on the Uk and US stores)
