Microsoft needs to answer for the disc drive....

I have owned my x1 since release, I am also on a limited data pool from Verizon because there are no internet services in my area... 15gb. I get to play live a few times a week for a hour or two.... Not even close to the amount of time my 360 has on it before
I moved from unlimited fibre internet land. My x1 disc drive suddenly stopped reading disc just says insert disc. It well read finally after following the troubleshooting steps related to the issue, http://forums.xbox.com/xbox_forums/xbox_support/xbox_one_support/f/4269/t/1625602.aspx?pi7962=11
but it just does it again and after the 4th full reboot. It now makes a crunching noise .... And I'm skeptic to put anymore $60 coasters in to the grinder.... This is a joke half of the consoles life the only disc that was in it was battlefield. No inserting
or ejecting for almost half the *** things life. I'm going to forbes and Engadget to write about the disk drive issue because it seems to be a huge issue for aton of people who shelled out hundreds of $$$$ for an oversized, slow, poorly programmed, poorly
designed, cheap hardware, because I was proude to call myself an Xbox fan 12 years I have been with the franchise, this is the worst gaming console I have ever had. And to all you naysayers about the issue just wait till it happens toy our box.... Come up
with a real answer Microsoft don't give me this.....

    Hey everyone!

Sorry to hear about the error code issue and any inconveniences this may have caused. We believe that the issue has been resolved. If you are continuing to experience error code 0x80820002 then please give a few troubleshooting steps a try:

    • Make sure your Xbox One console is placed horizontally on a flat, stable surface.
    • Press and hold the power button on your Xbox One console for 10 seconds.
    • Once your console is powered off, unplug the power cord.
    • Wait 3 minutes and then plug in your console.
    • Power on your console and try playing a disc.
If you have tried the suggested steps and if the issue continues, we recommend having your console repaired or exchanged. If you would like to speak with someone about having your console exchanged, contact the retailer where you purchased your Xbox One
console. If you would like have your console repaired, you can set up a console repair from our Online Service center or from our Contact
    Us
    page.

We can definitely understand how frustrating this could be. Once again, we are sincerely sorry to hear about any inconveniences this may have caused.

I want to hear what is going to be done about this? Not a pre written message pasted in as a response "Mister Quimby"

    :)

    Disc Drive Borked

If the disc drive is broken (what they mean by borked) then you'd either need to send the console into Microsoft to have it repaired or buy a new console.

Also, you only need one post, so be patient for an answer in your other thread before starting a new one.

New Xbox 360 Scratching New Disc

You need your xbox360 disc drive inspected for any malfunction. Seems like the disc tray needs a repair ASAP and best to send it in to Microsoft. Scratches/Laser burns are typical for the Xbox360.

  4. Microsoft needs to answer for the disc drive....

i couldn't agree more with this post ! ( not so much about the worse console but defo the disc drive issue)

I myself have been with xbox from the beginning, i too had a day 1 edition xbox one but after 11 months and out of no where my disc drive stopped working correctly. Again like the post above i hardly used the disc drive, i would always complete a game before
moving on to another, also the drive was never used for dvd or blur ays etc so the disc drive had very little usage over the 11months so for it to fail is very poor! Basically what happened I just ejected a game put in COD to install, disc drive went very
loud but did install but as the game finished installing it made this loud winding down noise so I rebooted the xbox and then after rebooting the xbox that was it the drive was dead it wouldn't read any discs and the drive made a awful noise when putting a
disc / game in. The xbox has never been moved for 11 months so how a disc drive can just fail like that is abit of a joke really.

For me I think this issue with the disc drive is a big issue and Microsoft need to address it as whatever drive they have decided to go with in these xbox's they are not good ! I've had so many over devices with drives like this (no tray etc) and never had
one fail so again i think its just very poor and Microsoft should look in to this as still now with new xbox's today you hear of people with disc drive issues so the problem has not been resolved or addressed.

To add to this myself now and my friends / family that own a xbox one (Total 5 people) have all had our xbox fail with disc drive problems !! I wonder what the fail rate is for this? I know Microsoft world never share this info but I bet its high !?

So as I really didn't want to go through xbox repair process, and as it was still in its warranty I took it back to Argos and amazingly they exchanged for a brand new xbox one and they let me kept my day1 controller which i thought was a great service by
them as they were in there rights to have it sent away to be fixed as it was over the 6 months warranty !

Don't get me wrong I do enjoy my xbox one and all the other xbox's I've owned past but its just feels abit of a lottery with this system every time i turn it on !

Please Microsoft can you look into the disc drive's issues seriously as there is problem with these drives that need addressing as I think it will be unfair for people to pay out for this to be fixed once the 1year warranty is up as its obviously some sort
of manufacturing issues with the disc drives you are using in the xbox ones.

  5. Couldn't agree more - I'm on hold buying X1 because of these issues.

Probably wait for MkII hardware that is really fixed.

Fan noise, drive issues....failing to load discs, making scratches on discs etc

The major advantage with console gaming is that hardware is the same for developers and gamers - and when hardware fails - then pc gaming seems more like the way to go.

The most problematic is that is seems to have arised after a firmware update - where the obvious choice would be to back down again - and see what the problem is.

X1 seems to have been developed in a rush, when PS4 was notified a date of launch.

  6. Hey, guys! I'm very sorry to see the disc drive issues you are having! The way we recommend resolving this issue is sending it in for us to get it repaired, or set up an Advanced Exchange with a hold on a credit card if it is available in your region. That
way we can repair the disc drive that is making noise or not reading discs, or send you a console that does not have the disc drive issues you are experiencing. If you are still able to, we do suggest taking it back to your retailer, as they can provide a
    replacement console immediately.

Again, I am sincerely sorry to see any issues that you both have encountered. Believe me when I state that I understand your frustration. The steps that Mister Quimby provided, that you posted in here, are the steps that need to be taken in order to resolve
this. Please do utilize the links to the Contact Us page or our service page to get a repair set up if you are unable to exchange it with your retailer. I do hope you are able to get a replacement quickly. Keep us updated on the repair if you do get one! We
want to make sure you're fully resolved. Microsoft needs to answer for the disc drive.... :)

  7. I'm sorry misses Quinzel but I think you have missed the point, I sure the person who started the thread knows how's to setup a repair etc.

The point is fixing the drives are not the issue, I would hope Microsoft are looking into or I would hope more they know what the issue is with the disc drives now the console has been out for over year, because as mentioned above people buying consoles
now are still getting disc drives issues right out of the box !

Please can we have some feed back on what the issue is with the disc drives you are using and what you intend to do to fix the problem moving forward.

Thanks in advance for your feedback .
