  5. Umm, yeah. The old get everyone excited by showing clips of an upcoming game/project, and a year or so later... Cancel it altogether.

E3? Or scam 3? Which will it be this year?

You'll have to wait till 2018 or later to find out!

Um, Sunday isn't a business day. Monday to Friday only, are. Microsoft must LOVE working weekends.

It will be interesting for them to reveal the specs of Xbox Scorpio. But with Xbox Play Anywhere, you can play games on any Windows 10 PC. Custom gaming PC's which will still beat Scorpio's specs. And having a high end PC, Xbox 1, and Xbox Play Anywhere,
voids the need to fork out hundreds on Xbox Scorpio. An AMD R9 390 has a bandwidth of 384GB/s. And Intel Core i7-6700k has a fast clock speed of 4.2Ghz (and that's without overclocking) and is a high end desktop CPU. An 5400rpm or 7200rpm HDD is much slower
    than an SSD.

There are people who love consoles, people who prefer PC, ..... and people who like both PC and Xbox which includes me. It will also be interesting how much Microsoft is going to charge for this piece of hardware too, and if it's really worth it compared
with the amount of money you could spend in comparison for a PC with better performance. But this is good news for people who like Xbox. Cuz when it releases, it will thrash the competition console company, until they come out with something better.

What Xbox Scorpio needs is a high clocked CPU, an SSD which can boot up a PC in only 8 seconds compared with up to 2-3 minutes with conventional 7200rpm HDD's and can save and load a lot quicker than an HDD at that, too.

Wouldn't call it a scam, they don't know that something they announce might get cancelled some time in the future.

Have learnt not to get excited about the stuff they show though.

That being said,i might do a little pee if they show anything from the new Star Wars games Microsoft Moved E3 Event to Sunday June 11 :)

If a PC with a 7200rpm hard drive is taking two of three minutes to boot up then there is something wrong with that PC that an SSD is not going to fix. Plus with Sleep and Hibernate any PC, regardless of storage, is going to be up and running near instantly.

Don't put so much faith into SSDs, they are far too expensive to be used as internal storage for the Scorpio.

Nevertheless, an SSD is noticeably significantly faster with booting, loading and saving, than an HDD. An SSD also has no moving parts like an HDD. You could argue the GPU planned for Scorpio is too expensive for console buyers. Watch this video and see
the difference between SSD and HDD. SSD might have a shorter life span than HDD, but top brands come with longer warranties. One company in NZ sells a 1TB Samsung EVO 850 SSD (which Samsung offers a 5 year warranty on, remember Microsoft only offers a 12 month
warranty on Xbox 1 consoles as standard) for NZ$494 and when you convert that into US/UK currency. It looks like Microsoft may be going all it with this console. Microsoft isn't going to price it so that it can be affordable for everyone. Or perhaps they can
have replaceable storage units like with Xbox 360. Or SATA3 or something HDD/SD Bay where users can put in their choice of storage like with the competition console. PC gamers know that HDD is too slow for what is 2017. No point in putting 2005 5400rpm or
7200rpm storage tech in a high end console for 2017.

It's a huge fact, SSD's are faster with booting, saving and loading, than even a 7200rpm HDD. Gamers appreciate it when you don't have to wait a long time to boot, load and save and for that circling thingy to finish loading for you. And with younger people,
than can quickly lose patience waiting for their stuff to process. People may also prefer to turn off their devices at the wall. So when you want to turn it on again, you have to boot the whole thing up again. Not to mention with frequent Updates Microsoft
releases for Windows and Xbox, those updates mostly require your system to Restart = shutdown, not sleep, not hibernate, the end result is a boot, which takes HDD noticeably, and I - mean - noticeably, slower to perform than if an SSD were doing the work

I love E3. I look forward to all the unannounced games. Sure some might not come to fruition, but most do.

I'm also stoked to see new news on Scorpio.

  14. SSDs do boot the system quicker smileskybird but for gaming it isn't that important. Most games don't load directly from the hard drive of a machine but into your system RAM first, this is why PC builds tend to have a SSD boot drive and a traditional hard
drive for games to be installed on. Plus they are damn expensive and would push the price of the Scorpio up even further.

You don't have to sell me on the benefits of SSDs, I have two in my PC, but as I said they are little to no benefit for gaming.

But this is directly relevant because it's a good chance that the Scorpio specs will be announced. If hardware were not important then we'd all still be happily gaming away on the Nintendo Entertainment System.

What else about the Scorpio would you like to discuss? What do you expect them to reveal at E3 except the specs. They've already said that all the games are going to work on the One and the Scorpio, so what is left but the hardware?

Please don't try and kill a conversation just because you don't like the topic.

Hmm, the only thing that slightly bothers me about this announcement is the TIME ZONE (relative to where you live). Every other year, hasn't the Microsoft presser been presented in the morn? So yeah, every other year I've been pumped for the livestream -
as it happens - but there's a very good chance that this year I'll be asleep (at the wheel). Seriously not impressed! Also, given that a bunch of triple-A titles will have shipped by June (Resi VII, GR Wildlands, Mass Effect Andromeda, Prey), I'm seriously
wondering how the 'business end' of the year will shape up...

Not to mention I'm going all in for a Scorpio *UNLESS* it fails to ship in a fashionable color. In which case, yes, I'll upgrade my TV and receiver to 4K, but will regrettably hold off on the Scorpio if it clashes with my current color scheme.
