Microsoft Money Account Issues?

So, I purchased a $25 gift card and loaded it on to my Xbox 360. I wanted to download the two Alan Wake DLCs and when I tried, the error code '8C010003' came up for both, (and a few other DLCs). This happened yesterday and today. I removed my credit
card option after looking up the code, but it won't take the gift card money. It shows the Microsoft Money as 'greyed out'. When I go to commerce.microsoft, it shows the money is there, same as on my xbox. In the Xbox store it won't take the payment option.

Is there any way to unlock it or use it? I'm hoping I didn't waste $25 on a gift card that can't be used for Xbox when it says it was...



I clearly don't know what I am doing. I've only had this xbox since March...

Do you have to sign up for microsoft rewards or will they just send some extra cash to anyone who purchases from the store? I recently bought a few games and would love a kickback haha.

What's the incentive for them? If someone is looking to buy Watch Dogs, having them buy a new copy grants them more profit than providing a used copy to sell.

 

Sorry to hear it. There doesn't seem to be an issue with the service at the moment. Where did you purchase the currency card from? Was it local or online? If the card is not for the same region that you live in then you would experience issues using
the currency as it can only be used for the same region that it was intended for (ie. US currency for US purchases, Canadian currency for Canadian purchases, etc).

@onyx62is I got the gift card from a Walgreens/CVS so that should be an issue.

I did do a live chat with someone and he had me do a number of things before logging off as the console was in another room;

Search for corrupted files on the hard drive; I found none.

Delete my gamer profile; I did.

Clear all cache; I did.

Restart the system; I did.

Redownload my profile; I did.

Try to purchase contend; I did, but my Microsoft Money option is still grayed out.

Any ideas? I will probably chat with them again tomorrow...

 

Ok, thanks for the info. When you say you spoke with someone online was it actually support or an ambassador? An ambassador only has limited access to troubleshooting info that is why I suggested phone support. They can do a deeper look into your account
to see if there would be any issues that are blocking your purchases.

 

It doesnt say he was an Ambassador, just gave his name. I was going to try to live chat again, (probably Wensday since I get off work at 7pm). Honestly I am terrible on the phone which is why I like live chat.

I did buy the hard drive used but have since cleared it out like he asked me to.

So I was able to buy a game off Arcade, (Slenderman if anyone is interested). I put the Alan Wake disk in to see if I could download the DLCs that way. It worked. Each of my purchases was a success!

I assume the problem was I was a dink not putting the game into the console to begin with...?

I put the Alan Wake disc into the console and was able to download both DLCs successfully!

I assume I can chalk this up to being a novice and not knowing I had to have the disk in to download DLCs...

Guess I was being a newbie not knowing I need to insert the disc to download DLCs. I thought I did before when I downloaded a DLC for Left 4 Dead but I guess not...
