Microsoft: launching Xbox One in new territories a priority, but must be done "the right ...

You've got to love how straight-shooting Microsoft's new Head of Xbox is. Whereas some top-level execs would resolutely skim over any constructive criticism with their fingers jammed in their ears, Phil Spencer is more than happy to tackle things head on, and
talk about how the company can make things better. Most recently, he's been speaking out about the Xbox One's

launch delay in 8 of its 21 regional markets.

"I'll just say it: I wish we were in every country on day one," Spencer said in a

recent interview with Edge. "Accelerating our country rollout is really, really important to us. We built a box that natively understands the country it's in - the language and television and other things - [so] let's make sure we do a complete job in bringing
the console into those markets. When we do, I think it will have an impact, but I want to do it in the right way. I don't want to get there early if the box isn't ready for the market it's being launched in."

Spencer also took the opportunity during the interview to put a stopper on persistent rumours that Microsoft is gearing up to launch an Xbox One console minus a bundled Kinect. "We're always trying to match what consumers are asking for," he said diplomatically.
"I always want to make sure that we're in tune with what current or potential customers are asking for from us. Right now, [dropping Kinect is] not the number one request from people. Usually it's, 'Where are the great games?'"

He further drummed up hype for this year's E3 too, promising some exciting exclusives and saying that it'll be "a real moment for us in this generation." Not long to wait now to see if Microsoft still has a few aces up its sleeves.

Since you're willing to pay full price for a brand new console for one single game then money must not be an issue so why not just get the PS4 and be done with it? It has the exclusive right to the MLB baseball games and it's clear you don't have much love
for Microsoft.

 

Boo... something positive about Xbox. Thought I would beat the usual suspects to the punch. I do like Phil's gumption though. He doesn't seem the type to unnecessarily beat around the bush about things.

 

Another great post Lofty. It's not a post that blows sunshine up MS's "port", but is positive, constructive and informative.

but the cloud is fake... kinect is a gimmick DX12 will only give a 1% boost and I am still waiting for a lower end kinectless version of this crap??? seriously... Make it $199, drop the kinect.. throw in 5 games, all physical so I can return them for

Not to be a Debbie downer but I think you forgot a few things tohell. Where's the 1080pppppp? Where's games with gold? Why is 360 better? Why is there a pay wall for apps? Why are digital games so overpriced?

I'm sure we could go on and on. Yet nobody ever mentions the things XboxOne can do that 360 can't. All bs aside I'm loving the XboxOne and I'm happy to be fortunate enough to have it on day one and watch it get better and better!

I do feel for you lads and lasses who do not have the Xbox One in your region, but at least Microsoft don't want to rush it.
