    Microsoft kids accounts for Mojang/Minecraft

    Hello,

I used to play Minecraft on my Mac.

My kids (8 and 6 years old) are (very) fond of the pocket version (iPad and iPad mini).

Maybe a year ago, I've created their XBox Live account which are managed by my own parent account as they are still young.

Everything worked fine. I had a strange login issue few monthes ago, but I logged them out and logged them in again and everything was fine.

Then this week-end, I upgraded their minecraft to the 1.2.16 version, and then the nightmare began :

My kids were logged out, they were offline and had no friends. So I logged them in and the webview prompt me about the kids verification.

One they were in their Microsoft accounts, they still remains locked until I confirm my parent status.

The first button consist of an email (I suppose, I still haven't received anything). I have to confirm their account until a future date, but they were still locked out and they wanted to use their limited videogame time to play Minecraft.

So we logged in again and this time I clicked on the "My parent is present" link in order to confirm directly the accounts.

The form does not work, it loops on the “child-landing” page, and finally stops the redirection issue on a blank page.

I tried to achieve the process from my computer instead (“No, guys, you still can't play, but I'm working on the problem, go wash your teeth instead”). It did not work. I'm a Firefox user, but I tried with Chrome too : The redirection issue led me to a blank
page too. I don't know why (habits, maybe) but I tried with a private navigation tab.

Then I was able to login with one of my kid account and then was able to confirm it with my own account! Hoora! (No.)

I have to make a 0.5$ payment in order to confirm I'm an adult. What a pain! My kids want to play Minecraft (I bought), so they have to log in to Microsoft in order to play Mojang game, then, I have to confirm their account, and in order to confirm mine,
I have to make a payment!?! Don't you have a more complicated process?

    But wait, that's not over!

I already added my credit card to my Microsoft account

Microsoft kids accounts for Mojang/Minecraft [IMG]

but it seems, for a reason I can't understand, that Microsoft cannot find my payment informations

Microsoft kids accounts for Mojang/Minecraft [IMG]

Ok, let's add a credit card in order to make a 0.5$ payment in order to unlock my kids account in order to allow them to play the game I already paid for…

Of course, you know that if I'm writing this message it did not work : I did add all my payment informations, but I cannot change my country!

The form is locked on USA:

I tried to cheat and select another “département” (kind of county for France) but the form validator found there was an error
    (of course there is !)

So I cannot add my already added credit card to my Microsoft account in order to confirm that I'm an adult in order to unlock my kids accounts in order to allow them to play Minecraft (“No boys, still locked, go to bed, you'll play tomorrow, maybe”).

I stepped back and clicked on the “I dont have any credit card” link

Microsoft kids accounts for Mojang/Minecraft [IMG]

Then I was forwarded to a ID Card based verification process. It consist of a form were you upload your ID scans.

The form is buggy : Once you validate the datas you have no user feedback at least if no error were found. I've been fooled few times and realized later that I did submit the form three times

Microsoft kids accounts for Mojang/Minecraft [IMG]

Of course this process is not realtime, so I had to wait 2 days until I get the result.

I received the answer this morning: The validation failed because my ID card scan is not readable.

I may be angry at Microsoft, so I may not be objective enough, but I really find my scan readable, don't you agree?

(Pixelated areas were added in order to post it here)

So let me sum up once again : Microsoft cannot read my ID card I sent them in order to verify my Microsoft account because I was not able to fill in my credit card informations that are already added to my Microsoft account in order to make a 0.5$ payment
in order to verify my age, in order to confirm my kids account in order to log them in the Minecraft network in order to allow them to play their favorite game (“No sons, Minecraft is up and running, but you're still offline, I'm sorry… Maybe this week-end”).

Please, please, please help me log them in again

    :)

    Can't reedeem gift code

Players who already have the previous PC or Mac edition of Minecraft (running on Java) can
download Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition for free.

Note You'll need to get a code from Mojang, the game developer, by signing in to your Mojang account before attempting to redeem your code for Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition. Otherwise, you
may incur a charge. To get your code from Mojang:

    1. Sign in with your Mojang account.
    2. Under Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition, select the link to request a code. Microsoft Windows 10 will open.

Note You'll need to sign in to or create a Microsoft account. If you sign in, use the Microsoft account you use to sign in to your Xbox account.
    3. If you're running Windows 10, you'll be able to download the game right after redeeming your code. If you're running an earlier operating system, you'll need to come back to Microsoft Store once you're running Windows 10.

The code you receive from Mojang will be kept on your account, in case you’re unable to redeem it straight away, or in case you have problems trying to redeem it in Microsoft Store.

Thanks for all of that information!

If the form appears "locked to US" when you're trying to add payment information, that could indicate that the region for your Microsoft account does not match your physical location.

Can you use the steps in the
    Region Migration Guide
to ensure that your Microsoft account region is set to your physical location, and let us know if you still see any issue with adding/charging that payment option after that?

Minecraft no longer launches. Has migrating from Java to Microsoft begun?

My kids have one minecraft account each, so I have tried three different accounts on three different computers - and today none of them are able to start Minecraft. Mojang writes that "With the new change over to Microsoft accounts for Minecraft: Java Edition you may encounter issues with your Microsoft account" I am not aware of any change, but with nothing working, I really do not know what to do. Mojang writes: "We have not started migrating any accounts yet. We’ll let you know in the launcher when your account is ready to be migrated. " - but with the launcher not launching anything anymore, I can only assume the migration has started, but is failing somehow.

I tried reinstalling, I tried running as administrator, I updated Java - but nothing seems to work.

Is the case that java-minecraft will be moved to Microsoft, and is that why the program is no longer starting? Can I simply download the Windows 10 version, (without paying again) and then it will work. Will my kids then loose all their old worlds?

And, I am running Minecraft Java on a PC, not an Xbox, but questions are supposed to (according to Mojang) go to Microsoft and Xbox.com.

Minecraft Migration - loss of bedrock edition?

That’s odd because if this is the Minecraft for Windows it will be purchased through Microsoft Store. The Minecraft that can be purchased through Mojang is Minecraft Java Edition.

Kindly make sure that you’re signed in under the account where the Mojang account was migrated. Please try other Microsoft accounts as well.
