Microsoft - Is this a joke?

13:52 on Christmas day, have managed to get 1 game to install, the first one took an hour, second one has taken over 90mins and stuck on 70%. That was after the 1GB update to the console which took till 11am to complete on a fibre broadband connection -
my kids are so frustrated and so am I.

Come on, why is there so much data to download and why is it not done in the background??? How can Forza 5 need a 14GB update when I have bought the disc - this is truly ridiculous and is spoiling the kids day!!

A very unhappy customer, if I had know this I would have bought a PS4.

I truly expected to be able to unpack, set up and play.

If you had bought a PS4, right now you would be on the Sony forums crying about how long it was taking and if you had known you would have bought an Xbox One. This isn't an Atari. Games consist of more than a couple pixels moving around on screen. The more
advanced games become, the more data they are made of. Games and updates have been this size on PC for years.

If you were smart, you would have done some research before buying such a product. Then you may have known the first thing you should have done, is taken the console and games out of the box, updated them, and rewrapped them. But instead, you decided to
give a complex piece of electronic hardware to some children without knowing anything about it. And now you're mad because something that any forum regular around here could have told you would happen, happened.

 

O ok, PS4 Servers were down most of the day yesterday. What makes you think that it will be better on a PS4?

 

Much like the PS4 and Wii U, the initial set-up is a daunting prospect for any father on Christmas day because of how long it takes, and how many network issues arise (Think how many parents are doing what you're doing around the world right now). The thing
is however, once it's done it's done. A little patience on your end and soon your kids will be happily playing and this will be little more than an initial headache.

 

It's no better on PS4 - you'd run into the same issue. At least now you know to pre-install games before Christmas. Also, the console has a tendency to install and update at the same time, which slows things down. Take your console offline so you don't have
to do both at once, and it will help speed things up.

 

Silver account noob.... Is this a joke? Installed farcry 4 today. Took no longer than 20mins, with the update. I call bull!

 

The op is complaint about discs I think he does say Forza disc in his post and discs on PS4 install much faster then X1. Why are you guys all upset let him rant.

Do they balls. I've seen first hand how long the full installation of games like GTA takes. It's not much better.

 

Oh here comes the biggest Sony defender of all! I love hearing from you very experienced silver accounters. Nothing like a bit of drivel at Christmas!

 

You get to rant when something unavoidable screws you over. Not when your own laziness and lack of knowledge ruins your kids Christmas. However, since I own both consoles I can say disks do install a little faster on PS4. It's like the difference of 20 minutes
versus 15 minutes. Saying "much faster" is comical. But obviously installing Minecraft is going to go much faster than Grand Theft Auto. You want to play a large retail game? You have to wait a while. Get used to it

 

Yup 100% discs install faster if you think not you are wrong. I have owned both since launch I'm kinda familiar with it. I buy discs only and have installed many games.

And Dufful your full of it Far Cry 4 is what 27gb plus the update so we will just call it 30gb and you downloaded it in 20minutes on Christmas Day right. And I'm much more experienced then you just look at my old silver tag it's still got more history then
you. The only thing you have more experience with is running your mouth.

Oh and Merry Christmas.

 

Far Cry 4 takes up exactly 27.2 GB of space. Update included. Just sayin...

 

Ok. Dufful said plus the update and it's had two patches I think so I guess they were small. But he's still full of it.
