Microsoft Headset Won't Work & Other Problems

PROBLEM- When I'm in an xbox live party or not my headset won't work. All the lights are on. The volume controls work (I can hear the little noises it makes when I push volume up/down), but I can't hear through the headset. When I'm in a party, I turn
on party chat, yet I can't hear through the headset. I've tried resetting my Xbox by holding down the power button on the console, and that worked once or twice, but now it no longer works. I've read another post on Page 2 with no answer posted.

PROBLEM- The Xbox One will 50-75% of the time control my TV/Cable Box (as in powering on/off and volume control). The other 25% of the time I have to manually turn on/off the TV and Cable Box. The Xbox One has never changed the channels via voice command
or xbox one guide. STEPS I've tried since DAY ONE - 1) Holding Kinect (with my hand during set up and after setup) 3 Feet in front of my Cable Box (no change), 2) Resetting and going through the set up process numerous times (over 20 times, no change), I
purchased and IR Blaster cable off Amazon (no change), I changed the IR remote code on my remote to 0 (as noted for Dish Network customers, no change).

I have a Dish Network ViP222k STB. We are changing to Comcast in a week or so and I'm hoping the switch to a new company/STB work. I am a Day One, pre-order customer and have been at this for 2 months now. I need to know if I have a bad Kinect or if somehow
the IR isn't getting to my STB. What is really strange to me is that it will occasionally power up the STB, but not control the channels via voice command/controller/Xbox one guide. You can see my previous posts from over 5 weeks ago in the TV/Guide Forum.
I've spoken with the support on Twitter as well. I guess the next step if no one can help me here is to call support and go through that process?

Oh, and if anyone here can relay suggestions/requests to the developers/software people. Please ask if they can put a sleep timer on the system. When I go to bed I want the system to be able to turn off automatically rather than me having to do it. Just
like it was before the I had my cable running through my Xbox One.

Need help with controller/headset problem

My controller works ok to operate console, but won't allow headset to work with it. Tested headset on other device & it works fine. Do I need to replace the controller?

Does anyone know how good Sony Gold Headsets work on xbox one??? Should I just get an Adapter and use these? Or sell them and get ones made for XB?Click to expand...

All lights on? You mean the one on the left side with the Mic icon right? If so then you have it turned off. As for the cable issue. Sometimes it is the cable provider other times it may be the TV itself if it is a high grade one anyway. In the options
menu there is an auto off feature. Go to the settings then power settings. Sadly the lowest option is 1 hour of inactivity. Also there is an option in the party menu to turn voice chat on or off. Default is off.

Make a headset adapter it's easy I am going to be doing it on my stream tonight

It will only show up if you have a headset that is plugged in with a headset adapter. Means it works with turtle beach headsets and others like that. It won't work with the headset that comes with the xbox. If you buy a chatpad you get a other headset with
itthat one works too. Other then that the headset options don't show up with the standard headset. Hope that helps.

Is the microphone for this headset in-line (on the actual headset cable)? I know for other headsets this means the microphone won't work for the Xbox One.

OK guess I'm not going to get a reply to this but I did more research within and outside the forums as well as Microsoft customer support. The forums said multiple times that an update from Microsoft is what caused this issue due to a sound upgrade. I verified
this with other game retailers as well and they said the same thing that the Microsoft update messed this up, the headsets worked before the update but won't after words. Microsoft on the other hand said that the problem is either with the X42 headset or stereo
headset adapter and wouldn't even acknowledge the fact that their update was the issue. The update made it so all legacy headphone would no longer work with the XBO and require people to purchase a new headset, thus making user spend more money.

I have 2 official Microsoft headsets doing the same thing. There are multiple you tube posts explaining the same issues with home remedies that don't work. The problem is clearly with the Microsoft products. Why won't Microsoft admit their equipment is defective
and take care of their customers?

I have exactly the same problem, working fine through 3.5mm headset jack on controller, next day no sound at all through controller, only through tv. Controllers won't recognise headset plugged in. I have two controller and both the same. Headset ok on other
devices and worked fine on xbox one s prior. Just randomly stooped recognising headset plugged in.

Have followed all trouble shooting recommendations and no joy.
