Yeah, the "killer app" is the experience you make of it. Everything from the games to online features.

The last thing I would ever call a killer app was Halo:CE on Xbox, people would buy it just for that alone.

Every other console people would buy for multiple reasons.

Well, that's a good read!!! Delivering More Choices for Fans - Xbox Wire

It seems that Microsoft have been listening to customers, and are making Xbox Live, Xbox One and Xbox 360 better.

Thumbs up from me! Microsoft have been listening. :)

This is complete BS and a farce! This public announce this is simply another PR stunt by MS. MS is using the press and the phrase "we listen to the gamers" as a sympathy tactic to try to win people over.

MS is ditching the kinect and lowering the price with hopes to gain market share and not because of what the 'gamers' want. Really? All the gamers who already own a Xbox One are giving feedback that they want to buy another Xbox One but with out a Kinnect?
It is really rediculous to hear that comment spew out of their pie hole! Tell the truth for once MS!

Gamers want games on the Xbox One and not "Gaming Apps".

    And as for this?

"...with an average of 120 voice commands per month on each console'

Well, lets look at a month of 30 days and see.....

Voice CommandNumber of daysNumber of commands

"Xbox On"3030*

"Xbox Watch TV"3030

"Xbox Off"3030

"Yes"3030*

Total Commands120

* not a guaranteed minimum count

I seriously doubt 120 command is anything to brag about. If anything that number just highlights the possibility that the Xbox One isn't being used for much of anything.

^^ Good point. It's all about market share. If they really listened to what we wanted, they wouldn't have included the Kinect and avoided this mess in the first place.

Besides, it's faster and easier and works 100% of the time to just use the controller.

I'm happy that Microsoft remove Kinect. What interesting games are available with Kinect outside Zumba and fitness games ? And what games 100 % Kinect are in preparation ? D4 and Fantasia. Very exciting.

I don't want a deluxe remote, now send big games for gamers at E3 and everything will be perfect !!

  6. "But using apps without gold is a BIG BIG move, and I think it is a good one."

Yeah its a huge move. Almost as big as removing Kinect. Removing Kinect was such a great move. It will help sales the most and allow the brand to thrive. For one, it brings the price down and provides another option (of course there were some really
good deals out there already). It also means that the many people who really did not want it can forgo it and just get the console. And for anyone wanting Kinect to be supported that can still happen. If you give consumers a reason to buy they will. Now
it really is up to MS to make sure there are compelling reasons to buy it instead of just counting sales numbers. I sold my Kinect but if they made some much have experiences then one of my future console purchases would be a Kinect bundle.

MS still has a long road. They have to have some big guns at e3. If they have timed exclusive deals for DLC and the typical exclusives they better hope the competition does not bring any big guns. This console will lag behind with multiplatform performance
(although they will unlock some of that power reserved for Kinect to big it a little closer) and if they do not have the biggest exclusives comparatively then most consumers will chose the other option. And that does effect me as an Xbox fan and it does any
other fan. That was why I had trouble supporting them from the beginning with this. Anyone could see what this would due to sales and that can effect the content in the long run.

I think so. I feel the engineers and management have a specific purpose for the Xbox One and gaming is just a secondary purpose. The Xbox One, to me, looks like some sort of hybrid "gateway drug" experiment that is attempting to ride on the coat tails
of social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter and trying to figure out how and why internet users flock together in hoards to make something $uccessfull. Seriously, it could have been any website that took off and it's still a mystery why something is
hot today and then falls through the floor tomorrow due to abadonment. Microsoft isn't targeting gamers, they are trying to target the age demographic that makes the above happen. Microsoft is pulling this PR crap because they have been successfull in discovering
only part of the solution; the abadonment and the fact that the demographic they are targeting has incredible amounts of debt.

Response to the OP... Actually, Microsoft failed to listen for the last 4 years. Microsoft "got the message" with poor sales and developer complaints. The removal of the Kinect is almost as bad as removing the CPU. It was integral with the SDK, and now it's
not. This issue is as bad as the overheating problem last gen. This may cost MS $1 billion (in terms of overall launch problems).
