Microsoft have been listening.

^^ It's good and it is making more options. The Kinect will still be there for people who want it and not for people who don't. I agree with the move.

 

^ Yep. If Microsoft believe in the Kinect then they need to show people why they must have one.

 

I think the real vision will be seen at E3 when we see the list of games they will be showing.

I still see Xbox leading PS4 with the amount of AAA exclusives and they certainly won't stop. While I hear that Sony may shift more towards the indie & F2P models which they say will benefit them greatly.

MS said they are spending a billion on games, that is something Sony simply can't do.

I know Naughty Dog will produce a gem, but I can't care less for God of War, Gran Turismo, Infamous, and what else big games does Sony have planned? I had hopes for the Order 1886 but that faded. No interest in drive club. Sony really needs to have something
amazing to tear me away from the enjoyment I get from XB1.

Well, that went off topic but what I mean is that MS is listening to gamers because they are bringing the games.

This time last year many were on MS case saying TV TV Tv, yet I have more great games than I can handle and it isn't stopping.

All I see Sony having is slightly better multiplats, certainly nothing to sway me.

 

I am suprised some people are upset about droping the Kinect and I read others all mad about the Games for Gold it's crazy this is going to save the console and I think it's great news.

They are just doing what they have to do to make Xbox compete. Now we wait and see if it works but I will spend more money now with Xbox.

People jump on the Kinectless console, save $100. MS release some sort of Kinect title that creates a lot of excitement...... do I dare say a must have for X1 owners. People now shell out $160 for the X1 Kinect......

I had no doubt that the the Kinect would be ditched. Hardware wise? The XB1 is the PS2 where the PS4 is the Xbox, this isn;t a bad thing imo

 

I'm happy to see Kintect gone. I think that the waggle fad is officially dead. I'll be ordering my new Xbone shortly.

 

@BSTN, it seems the general attitude on the forums is that a lot of people feel they deserve a X1.... even if they cant afford the console (with Kinect), the Gold membership, etc.... People have forgot needs vs wants.....

Good for MS..... just wait for the I got ripped off by the Kinectless X1 bundle. It's business.... heartless and driven by profit... there is no love or respect.

 

Woo hoo this is all great news The access to apps for free was long over due and should make some folks happy.

 

So the new Kinect less X1s.... will they have the 10% power freed up? Or are you going to be buying a product which has its resources dedicated to something no utilised?

According to Yusuf Mehdi, corporate vice president for devices and studios; Microsoft "are in discussions with our game publishers about what we might do in this space and we will have more to talk about soon".

It looks like it will be up to developers and publishers if they want to free up that 10% power.

Why didn't that happen with the original Kinect then? Oh, that's right, they got us to shell out $160 for the Kinect and then didn't develop any games for it before the end of the 360's life cycle. This time they used a different strategy -- a lower price
if you buy the Kinect with the console. The end result is the same -- everyone who bought one will NEVER see the "killer app" they are hoping for.

I learned my lesson the hard way as a day one adopter of the first Kinect. When the Xbox One released with mandatory Kinect and NO killer app for it, I knew they were going to do it again. And thus far my assumptions have been proven correct. This move
to unbundle it frankly makes it even that much more likely that the killer app will never appear.

I would feel bad for the early adopters, but I and many others were screaming that this was going to happen on this forum and others. It fell on roughly 4.2 million deaf ears. One really can't complain when one was warned.

 

Who needs a killer app, auburn? The killer app you're looking for IS the Xbox One itself! With all of the things that the Kinect allows me to do quickly and easily, it was more than worth it IMO. I'm sorry you don't feel the same way...
