Microsoft have been listening.

Stupidest decision ever!!! Sure, they want to sell more units and think they can drive sale by lowering the price without Kinect. But those who are responsible should asks themselves some uncomfortable questions: Why do some people think that Kinect is useless?
Why? And the next question is what did they do the last 4 years to push Kinect?

This is the real problem. Microsoft invests zero effort into Kinect. The current software support (OS integration, apps...) isn't significantly better than Kinect v1:

- Microsoft promises core games with Kinect for 4 years, but there is still no single game available

- Voice support is very bad, much worse than 5 year old car entertainment systems

- Very bad integration into apps. Just static voice commands. Kinect cannot recognize from context like Sri. Using Voice is often much harder than it should be, because the tech simply doesn't work well.

- Very bad gesture support. It must be possible to execute commands by voice AND gestures or both together ... MICROSOFT: YOU NEED TO INTEGRATE VOICE/GESTURES AT THE CORE FRAMEWORKS (WinRT/.NET) THAT EVERY APP CAN BE USED BY KINECT.

- There is no single core Microsoft app available, but there are apps like Bing maps/streetview where gesture support would be perfect. People are expecting nothing less than some Minority Report style control of apps, for example bing maps.

What an awesome feature to implement. Looks as if Microsoft is really listening to their fans. There have been many games I have bought and regretted it. 2 hours is a good time to decide or not imo.

microsoft are listening it just takes time to implement all the features people want. just because they arent meeting one particular request at this time doesnt mean they arent. go back and look at the update history and see everything they have done

 

I think MS might be ran by the same kids that think rez and fps are pointless.

So stupid to get rid of the Kinect. People really are missing out on a great addition to the system. Shame on Microsoft.

 

Adding a kinectless bundle is smart and should have been done since day one. I have not been able to use the kinect because the features are not available in my country. it just takes up space and is useless to me.

 

This is the second time MS has truly *** me off. The third time will be it for me.

 

Burst Axe I wasn't annoyed with the price drop and free game for the Titanfall release but this had kind of annoyed me. Pretty sly to do it so soon. I will remember all this next time a new console is released. It will be the last time I go day one.

 

@Puddin The price drops didn't bother me either. A $100 difference is nothing in the grand scheme of putting aside money to get what someone wants. At best its another 2-4 week wait for someone. I'm upset about them tearing apart the Kinect and Xbox One.

I disagree with Auburn, bran. He could've shared his opinion a bit more tastefully & tactfully too - frankly, I'm surprised you're encouraging his post (read: his post, not his opinion).

 

I don't think Microsoft have ever stopped listening. I'm a big fan of the Kinect, but if the Kinect or the price of the Xbox One was affecting sales then I'm glad Microsoft are releasing a Kinect-less bundle.

 

I actually saw nothing wrong with Auburn post and I actually agree with a bit of it.

Anyway this is all great news if you ask me, more options for gamers!
