    I recently bought a £25 gift card at a Tesco store, when i tried to redeem the code it just says code is deactivated. I called Tesco's but they told me to take it up with Microsoft so i did and guess what Microsoft said, go see tesco **** please can someone
    tell me the right course of action thanks

    You would need to go back to the store with the card and the receipt. They should be able to sort it for you :)

    The store you purchase the gift cards at has to activate the card at checkout when you make the purchase. It sounds like there was an issue with activation at checkout at the store. Take the card and your receipt to the store and ask to speak to manager
    and explain to them the card wasnt' activated.

    Go back to the retailer to get it reactivated so yeah Tesco is the best bet.

    Ah!! gift cards are un-refundable. I would recommend you sell them on eBay if you haven’t used them
