Microsoft Gamertag Policies Need to Change

Greetings, here... not that I care for this name any longer.

For the past, approximately, two years; I have been attempting to change my Gamertag to one that says is 'Available' on all websites, including Microsoft's own - but displays as 'Unavailable' when attempting to change it to the Gamertag.

I have sat both on phone and on my laptop with Microsoft "Support" whom consistently link an article from May 18th, 2016 about released gamertags from closed/dead accounts. They explain that they can help me by giving me numbers, symbols or words to make the
Gamertag I desire available... as if that holds any meaning, I wouldn't be inquiring if I wanted to just do that.

Each time the unfortunate incompetence of the Support representatives shines through, constantly linking that same article over and over, while claiming that they cannot reveal if another release will ever happen.

The name I want belongs to a closed(Banned) account. It can never be logged in to again, it is permanent. Despite this, and the fact that I'm willing to pay $10 to change my name to the desired one, they will not work with me to release the banned name. They
say that it would be "unfair." Unfair to who? Why can this not be done on a case-by-case basis?

Why are your company policies still so rigid and unwilling to work with your consumers? Then again, maybe that's why Microsoft has been losing stock value.

I'm also posting this to say that I'm strongly considering switching over to Sony. They, only recently, allowed their users to change their names - and they deal with name changes on a case-by-case basis as I suggested. Meanwhile, Microsoft still locks down
closed accounts and forbids releasing the names that can never be used again.

Question about innapropriate gamertags.

if you do end up making an innapropriate gamertag which you are not allowed to do do to the Terms and policy of the Xbox live Community You will get a gamertag change from Microsoft enforcement team make sure you actually read the Terms and policies before
doing this gamertag change.

I am tired of having my gamertag changed and having to answer questions on Microsoft policies just to get an a supposed called review of the gamertag is bullcrap I need people in the enforcement team to respond back to this so I can get this issue solved

 

When the mass gamertag release was done none of those gamertags were from accounts that had permanent bans on them.

Their will most likely not be another Mass gamertag release done the new policy with MS is the account must not be signed in on anything to do with MS for 5 years starting in 2016. So in 2021 any account that had not been signed in for the last 5 years on
anything to do with MS not just Xbox that accounts gamertag will then be released

When you say the gamertag shows as available on all websites, what sites are you talking about? Only Microsoft sites are official, and when you search for a name and it can't be found it doesn't say available, it tells you it can't find it. There is a difference,
which might not be clear enough, however at the point of changing you get informed.

I believe Sony will also have similar rules, if the name you want can't be had then you won't be able to get it there either.

Switching platforms over not being able to get the name you want is a little extreme, in my opinion, as you won't get back the money you have invested in the current system. Have both

 

If you used a site like checkgamertag, the search returns false. I just tried and apparently my gamertag is available as is another that I know is in use.

Do not trust information from 3rd party sites, claiming they can tell availability.
