microsoft gamertag not working

my Gamertag on Xbox will not work. When i request a new password it sends an email to the right account. but the Gamertag does not match. The Gamertag that i pay for gold on I can no longer sign into. When i try to sign into my gametag on Microsoft.com
the wrong Gamertag shows up.

I'd like to change my gamertag too, but I can't because I don't own Xbox.

Gfwl gamertag changing is not working because there are still Microsoft Points and it's not updated.

your all good man... welcome.. the gamertag thing is under work via microsoft.

 

That means your signing in on the website with the wrong email address.

You would want to go into settings on your xbox one and go to the account tab and under sign in security and passkey it will tell you what the email address is that is associated with the Profile that you are signed in with.

 

I am not signing in on the wrong email. I can obviously see the email that is associated with my account. I created a Microsoft account with the email and registered my xbox. I was able to reset my password and get past the character check but it still
will not sign me in even after I enter the new password. It prompts me for my password, I enter it, and the screen loads but still does not sign me in.

Is the profile still downloaded onto the Xbox?

So, when attempting to sign into the account, the platform being used is the website on a PC or phone only?

This does suggest Microsoft account is associated with the wrong email. What I would do is on the Xbox with the Gamertag you believe is the right one is check the E-mail address associated with it. A Gamertag is associated with a Microsoft Account but
the E-mail address that is associated with a Microsoft Account\E-mail address can change. Hope that helps and makes sense.
