  1. Microsoft Game Installation for an Inexperienced PC User

    Hello,

I am a not computer savvy so I would greatly appreciate it if someone could explain to me as if I am 9 years old. My experience with PCs has been the basic Microsoft Office use. I grew up in the 70s and 80s playing Atari and Nintendo, but did not play games again until a few years back when my son wanted an Xbox and PlayStation to play games with his friends. I'm used to consoles (i.e., XBox One and PS4) but would like to play on my laptop.

As a recommendation from a mutual friend I purchased a Gigabyte A5 X1 Laptop. It is equipped and enhanced with the following:

    • Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX with Radeon Graphics 3.30 GHz
    • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070
    • Installed RAM: 16.0 GB
    • System Type: 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
    • D-Drive: SK hynx Gold P31 SSD PCIe NVMe M.2 (1TB)
    • E-Drive: SK hynix Gold S31 SSD SATA 2.5-inch
I'm not sure if more computer information is needed to answer my question. I enjoyed Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 4 on PS3/4 and would like to play Fallout 3 on my laptop. I was told to make sure all my downloads go into my D-Drive and not the default C-Drive. It was recommended that I use the C-Drive only for all Microsoft updates and to run everything else through my D-Drive and E-Drive.

I have never played games on a PC and have never used the Xbox App on my laptop before either. If I purchase the Fallout 3 GOTY edition through the Xbox store (https://www.xbox.com/en-us/games/store/Fallout-3-Game-of-the-Year-Edition/9NBZ9JF6TFMD), can I choose to have it download to the D-Drive? If I so, is there a recommendation on how to download it to the D-Drive instead of the default C-Drive? I was told this laptop is like a Corvette and I have been driving it like a Toyota Corolla lol. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

    :)

Microsoft Game Installation for an Inexperienced PC User

Thank you for contact us! I'm Anderson, an Independent Consultant and a Microsoft user like you.

    Good evening

Hi there! I'd be happy to help you install Fallout 3 on your Gigabyte A5 X1 laptop.

First, let me explain a few things about your laptop's hardware. Your processor and graphics card are very powerful and should be able to handle most games without any issues. Your 16GB of RAM is also more than enough for gaming. Your D-Drive is a solid-state drive (SSD), which is a fast and reliable type of storage for your games and other files. Your E-Drive is another SSD that you can also use for storage.

Now, let's talk about downloading Fallout 3 from the Xbox store. When you purchase and download the game, you should be able to choose where to save the installation files. The Xbox app may default to saving the files on your C-Drive, but you can change this by selecting the D-Drive as the download location.

To do this, follow these steps:

Open the Xbox app on your laptop.

Search for Fallout 3 in the store and click on it.

Click on the "Buy" button to purchase the game.

Once you have purchased the game, click on the "Install" button to begin the download.

When the installation prompt appears, click on the "..." button next to "Local Install" to choose a different installation location.

Select your D-Drive from the list of available drives and click "OK".

Click "Install" to begin the installation process.

Once the installation is complete, you should be able to launch the game from the Xbox app or from the Start menu on your laptop.

Hello Blubo! I'm Kris and I'd be happy to help you with your question.

Just to confirm, are you talking about Saints Row the latest game?

    Totally inexperienced XBOX (S) user...

    Hi Kris,

I think I figured it out. I installed the xbox app on my android phone. I downloaded a game remotely to my xbox (version s).

My confusion came because I couldn't understand how to pay for it, and the payment window for a game on promotional sale was closing, so when I returned to my cart the price had increased.

Anyway, no problem. I completed the purchase on my console and have been playing it successfully ever since.

I'm deliberately avoiding your question because I changed my mind and downloaded a different game instead.

But thanks for taking the time to respond nonetheless.

Borderlands 2 Xbox 360 edition keeps installing itself on my Xbox.

Have you game share with some other user? maybe the other user start the download from smartphone app or microsoft store site on PC and this install the game on his home console for default
