Microsoft Game Bar Not Recording Minecraft Java In Fullscreen

Is your Minecraft in fullscreen? Minecraft Java Edition does not support the Xbox Game Bar in fullscreen. You will need to play it on window mode or use another software to record.

Hey Kathy,

Four things:

1. I used to record using the xbox gamebar, and it worked perfectly, why does it not work now?

2. I do not think I can choose fullscreen borderless in Minecraft (if I can please tell me how to)

3. I don't even think I know what fullscreen borderless is, unless it is when the taskbar and the menu bar on the top show (which can be done using the F11 key in Minecraft Java Edition)

4. If putting my Minecraft Java Edition into F11 mode is fullscreen borderless, then the recording works, but I hate seeing the taskbar and menu bar while playing my video games

Thanks for the details.

It seems like you previously can record Minecraft Java Edition in full screen. We remember you mentioned Xbox Game Bar to be working on Windowed Fullscreen with taskbar however the Fullscreen that might be meant on the error you receive can be enabled in video settings of the game. For the guide on how to choose Fullscreen borderless, please refer to Mojang Support.

As written on the top of this page, in game concern should be asked to the respective game studio.

Try using OBS Studio. It is a free and open source program that can do so much more than Game Bar capturing, and it is easy to use after watching a few tutorials. You can get it at obsproject.com or from the Microsoft Store.

So yeah, I used to use OBS and I still have it downloaded, but the thing is the game becomes SUPER laggy using OBS (For example xbox gamebar gets my a stable 240 fps, while OBS will give me about 30 lol) and the recordings are also quite laggy. So even though I much prefer OBS I am forced to use xbox gamebar.
