Microsoft Flight simulator installer not installing the launcher?

Try this: Go to Windows settings >> Apps >> Xbox >> Advanced >> Repair & Reset.

After doing that, Perform the same steps for Gaming Services and Microsoft Store as well.

Try to install the game again afterwards.

Hi, thanks for the advice but I've done all that already. Spent 2 hours on phone to Microsoft support who couldn't help me, they passed me to Xbox live chat via telephone but that is unavailable. I have ran through numerous help options but none resolve the issue.

I was using flight sim on Tuesday the 4th Jan 2022 and then it started crashing to the desktop when I tried to load a flight, I uninstalled it and have been unable to re install, have also completely restored this PC with the help of Microsoft who then ran a windows 11 check to ensure everything was ok, they took control of my PC to do this.

It would appear that the 1.23GB MSFS installer does not download to my C: drive even though it tells me it has as I can't find it anywhere, a Hard disc search only ever shows up the desktop icon for Flight sim and nothing else even if I show hidden files.

The xbox app says the game is ready to play and the licence has also been downloaded, clicking on play opens the splash screen which then opens another screen saying syncing data, this gets to 100% and then crashes to desktop, any further attemps to launch the app result in a message saying start in safe mode or normal mode but neither work and crash back to desktop again

I'm absolutely cheesed off with this to be honest!!

For me this worked, it was pretty much because the launcher wasn't able to decompress some files correctly. navigate
your way to your roaming file (%appdata%), find your way to Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages\Official\Steam, delete all files that are not folders (for me I had like 6 packages at the bottom of my listing that were files not folders), then rerun the launcher
and it should correctly install them.
