Microsoft, finally DO something about the XB1S lame audio settings and release a genuine ...

I have an recurring issue, bitstream audio (Dolby Atmos) worked fine up until last FW update, now I´m stuck at 7.1 PCM audio setting, keeps throwing the 0x80bd0009 error, passthru doesn´t work for Bluray app, neither, everything is forced to 7.1 PCM as the
only option...

I chatted with Xbox support twice, they were only able to point me to resetting the console which I did, it helped for like an hour (besides I had to set my account and everything else again, really convenient), then it came back...really tired of the system,
the audio settings (and stupid inability to implement genuine system-level bitstream for more than a year) are a crap.

True gamers maybe find the console rewarding, any AV-wise person simply cannot...I told them many times, I filed many complaints: ANY 70-ish BD PLAYER IS CAPABLE OF GENUINE BITSTREAM!!!

and all these audio mishaps posted here are because of the Microsoft´s degenerate and incapable attitude towards abovementioned problem

XBox One Media Player

absolutely agree, Microsoft is unable (or intentionally unwilling?) to properly set up audio/video properties of the XB1S/X consoles, and has been a for a looong time now...Media Player and Movies app are still incapable of properly playing back HD audio
formats off USB, the app itself (Media Player) hasn´t been updated for like a year...

the VLC app team said they tried to contact Microsoft in order to obtain access to the Exclusive Mode in SDK so they could do something with bitstream capability, Microsoft wouldn´t respond...it´s a clear nonsense

 

Getting exactly the same issue here, including the same error code.

Atmos in blurays was working fine less than a month ago so it must be a recent xbox update as nothing else has changed.

Also, the Dolby Access app did work fine when I was testing this morning, including playing the atmos samples - my av receiver showed that it was getting an atmos signal and it sounded great. But as soon as I try to play a bluray the xbox audio settings
switched to 7.1 PCM.

Trying again this afternoon I can't even select hdmi bitstream in xbox audio settings anymore, I just get error code saying check my receiver. Which is stupid because it's all been working fine till recently.

If I have the same problem with my Scorpio when it arrives it's getting sent straight back to Amazon and I'll buy a proper bluray player instead.

 

Same issue here. Not sure when it started since I am still getting Atmos out of the 4k Blu Ray but this does not carry over to Netflix with Okja as a test. Even making any changes to headset settings gives the same error so I'm not so sure it's truly a Bitstream
issue but just moreso a settings app issue since this whole settings screen was broke when they first launched this particular dashboard ui back a few months ago.

 

it’s just so lame from M$, I mean the console and whole ecosystem is indeed a top notch, but why in heaven can’t they play along a little bit with audio settings and get it straight...?
