    Microsoft Family safety and Fortnite

    Hello all,

I'm hoping to attract the attention of Rodrigo who seems to be quite the expert on these matters, or indeed anyone else able to help.

My son has Fortnite, accessed on his Windows PC via Epic Games with his login credentials as used on all devices. It works seamlessly.

His XBOX account / Microsoft live account limits access however. I have followed directions on other channels of disabling / resetting / etc etc. I've done a full delete, reset, reinstall, etc. I have logged in as the parent on family safety and altered settings. I have logged in to the xbox as my parent account and attempted similar.

The guidance on one other channel suggested to make the settings either default or adult under the "privacy and online safety tab", however I cannot even see that option available under the current menu structure either under my own login or my sons.

    HELP!!!!

    quote from other channel......

Make sure the sttings on the child's account allow for online play:

Change privacy and safety settings for you or a child

    1. Sign in to your Xbox. (If you’re changing the settings for a child, sign in using an adult’s account.)
    2. Scroll left on the Home screen to open the guide.
    3. Select Settings > All Settings. For your account:
      1. Under Privacy & online safety, select Xbox Live privacy.
      2. Choose a default, or customize your settings by selecting View details & customize.
      For a child’s account:
      1. UnderAccount, select Family.
      2. Enter your password or passkey, and then select the account you want to update.
      3. Select Privacy & online safety, and then choose the default settings, or customize by selecting View details & customize.
If it doesnt work after youve done this, try power cycling your xbox to see if the changes take effect.

    AND

I'm sorry to hear that's been a hassle. Now as provided above by BaconIsGood53 we need to customize the privacy and safety settings for the child account. Now I know the change made was to be as Teen, but for Fortnite it works under adult defaults or custom settings.

    1. Select Privacy & online safety, and then choose the default settings (adult), or customize by selecting View details & customize.

On here you get to manage the privileges and permissions for the Xbox Live account. The main setting I've been able to see that affects Fortnite is under Game Content.

You want to go through each section provided to modify the settings, we want to make sure to allow Broadcasting game play, seeing and sharing content.

    Hope this helps

    :)

    Hello, Glenn!

Sorry to hear about the trouble that you are getting, let's try to follow these steps and it will resolve the issue for you.

    1. Go to your Microsoft account settings and sign in with the organizer account.
    2. Change the settings: Set the age requirement to "Everyone" or "Not limited" and turn off "Ask to buy."
    3. Manage consent: Try to remove consent if available.
    4. Go to your Xbox account settings and sign in with the organizer account.
    5. Select your child's gamertag: Under their name, go to the "Privacy" tab and the "Xbox and Windows 10 online safety" tab.
    6. Change all settings to "Everyone" and "Allow." and click on "Submit".
    7. If it doesn't work, remove your child's account from the Family, ensuring consent is removed before removing your child's account. Then, sign in with your child's account at Xbox account settings to modify the settings as mentioned in step number five.
I wish this resolve your issue and let me know if the issue still persists.
