Microsoft Family member unable to purchase

    HI,

I have my son setup on Microsoft Family so I can administer his settings and prevent him from getting into trouble online... My problem is this, his account is restricted to 7+ (he's 8), I have just loaded some credit onto his account so he can buy some
add-ons for a game, but we keep getting the message that his account is unable to complete the transaction on xbox.com and do it from the xbox...

We are using the xbox, but no matter how I configure his account, I keep getting this message, I have even gone into CUSTOM and enabled the purchasing options (by setting it to everything). Could someone point me in the right direction please?

    Cheers

    Darren

    :)

Purchase of this content is not allowed for child + teen accounts.

Hey there, my apoligies that it took us so long to discover this. It looks like member accounts on family pack are always unable to access purchases over Xbox.com. While you're a member of the family pack, you'll need to make your purchases over the console.

  3. 2 parents on a family account?

I can understand your frustration with that. This is what I found on the Points issues,

    ---

How do I purchase Microsoft Points?

Microsoft Points are the currency of the Xbox LIVE Marketplace. Only the primary Family Pack member can purchase points, making it easier for a parent to manage his or her family’s entertainment budget.

Primary member: This is the Xbox LIVE account that you used to sign up for the Gold Family Pack membership. This account can purchase and give Microsoft Points to other family members (secondary accounts). How do I share points with family members (secondary
    accounts)?

Secondary members: Secondary family members cannot use credit or debit cards to purchase Microsoft Points. Instead, secondary account members can redeem a Microsoft Points card (available at retail locations), or the primary member can give points to
    secondary members.

    ---

It would seem to me, it's more a security thing, I hope this helps you.

It could depend on what type of content he's trying to purchase. If it's 360 content, the purchase has to be made from a 360 console, not a One.

That might be the case... Would I still be able to purchase via a laptop if I logged in as him?

No. The 360 store is set up differently than the store on the One and website.
