  1. Microsoft Family and Screentime

    Hello

I am after some advice here.

I have a microsoft account and have added my son as a family member and setup his screentime on his xbox one x.

All was working great. When he ran out of time, he asked for more screen time, I got the email and authorise and ...

However the other day, I didn't want to authorise this. So I declined it. I then went out the house and when I came back, to my surprise he was on the xbox playing.

I then asked him how he managed to play and he ( 8 years old ) and his sister ( 11years old ) grinned and said she wanted an account of her own, so they created an account on his xbox and then they could play whatever they wanted on his xbox!

Now, at this point, I wasn't sure if I should be annoyed with my 8 year old for bending the rules, or thinking I have a genius who knows how to cheat the system.

I work in the IT so I am pretty good with computers and ... however I can't understand how he would be allowed to do that on his xbox and create a new account to be able to then play?

Is this a bug in the xbox OS or have I missed out a step in setting up the xbox on the family account.

I must say I wasn't logged to his xbox account and he was the only person logged to it at the time it happened.

In the meantime, I have had to change the settings on my WiFi router to give him access to internet only at specific times but I can't limit it to x number of minutes like I can with the xbox family screentime. So that would be ideal .

    Any help or advice appreciated

    :)

  2. Screentime does not work

I am having the same problem. Microsoft worked with me to reorganize my kids accounts and now I can control screentime for one but not the other.

  3. Screentime does not work

    Hello,

seems like screentime is not working at all on xbox one.

I have created an adult and child account on the xbox and setup the limits via the family website. They seem to have no effect at all.

Is there a patch for this problem? Thanks

    Cristiano

    Hi there,

Have you created a Guest Passkey on the console yet?

Info on how it works and setting it up can be found
    here
    .

Be sure to uncheck the box that says "Let people download & make new accounts". Then the guest key will need to be entered before anyone can add/create a new account on the console.

    Screen time limitations and school

Thank you for pointing me to Google for an answer I already have. I already use Family Group and have set screentime limits, but the basis of my inquiry is to find a way to limit non-school activities during school time but not allow school time to decrement from screentime allotments for play time.

On Xbox cloud gaming, I want to play Fortnite but it’s saying that I don’t have any screen time. I can’t go on my dads acc either to change settings. He doesn’t restrict me in any way either?

Hi! My name is Ben an Independent advisor and an Xbox Gamer like you. Hope you are doing well!

With regards to this problem, only the parent account can manage the settings of a child's account if your account is somehow registered as a child or member in the Microsoft Family.

When you asked your dad to try and check your screentime, is your device already added to your Microsoft account? Normally there will be an option via https://account.microsoft.com/family on how to connect a device after you choose "Screentime" there is also an option there to choose whether to "Use one schedule on all devices" or you can ask him to opt it out.

I suggest to try asking your or any organizer in your family group to try and manage your account from the family list and if possible to have them remove the screentime or adjust it on your preferred time to play to prevent restrictions.

I hope the information helps. Just let us know if you have further questions and we will do everything with our knowledge to assist you.

    Kind regards,

    Ben
