    @Blue

I have to disagree with that. Reading the description for a group is very telling and it's rare that it doesn't meet expectations.

The ability to do it for console games already exist (websites) but it's not integrated on the console. I'm currently running through Borderlands 2 on the PS4 and have easily found 3 guys to play with that's goal was "TVH mode, all sides, all bosses, all
DLC. The person who understands what that means will 99 percent of the time have the gear and skills to actually do it.

Integrating into the console may actually lead to the first "con" that I can see based on what you said. The more people that can easily make groups the better the chance we'll see people overstating their skill to get carried. I may regret getting what
I'm asking for in that case.

I've never added anyone from family, or real life to my FL until after I found out if they can at least play video games or not.

That I find strange coming from you. Even for me if my little brother (46 yrs old) wants to play a game with me, no matter how bad he is I'll still play with him. Even in my goal oriented gaming world family and real life friends still come first.

Hey Randver, forgive me if I have missed something amongst this very deep thread. But have you been victim to this alleged "exploited" reputation system. I see your rep and it looks good to me.

Just about everyone that has started one of these threads has been caught/called out with proof via website links and proved to be a liar, hack, or cheat.

I didn't start the thread and I have had no issues with my rep.

What got me here was the question of what the rep system actually accomplishes. I don't see it removing the negative element so my point of view is to give us something that allows us more control.

I'd rather have tools to find people to play with rather than a system that attempts to allow me to avoid people.

Randver, this may be an extreme analogy here, amd I am not trying to spark a further debate. I am just going to offer another way of viewing the reputation system.

Police and the judicial system protect and serve. They do their best to weed out the bad apples, clean up the streets, and keep crime low. They are not perfect, they are not unblemished. They do not completely stop repeat offenders. But it helps.

With that said, essentially the way I view your last post is you would rather have most of the offenders out there, just to have more gamers gaming. Instead of Xbox Enforcement trying to stop offenders.

    (with respect)

That's not what I meant but I wouldn't be opposed to that if a VAC type system was in place for every game.

A software based VAC system gets rid of the team killers, quitters, afker's, people driving the wrong way in racing games, etc. It's objective because it's software based and easily proven with no input from us.

All the other CoC violations are somewhat subjective. As Blue and I have been discussing, what one of us finds a good gaming companion someone else may find annoying. In those cases mute is the greatest invention ever.

I think that type of system would work better than what we have because it will be enforced every time with no input from us.

  6. From what I've read recently, some games (unfortunately not all) already have the kind of system you're talking about, Randver - an automated system removes you from the game or changes your rep if you're doing those kinds of things that violate the CoC.
I believe HMCC is 1 of those games.

The XBLPET isn't 100% human; a good chunk of it IS automated - this was stated by the XBLPET before the Xbox One was even a thing. It's a good combination of both the human element and automated processes governed by a set of rules and parameters. After
all, a small team can't successfully govern millions, no matter how much we'd like to think so.

As for the whole "finding people" bit, Randver, it sounds to me like you're the kind of person who would rather go back to the whole server options of finding games (and by extension, people), rather than have the revolutionary matchmaking system that was
1st promoted by Halo 2 and has permeated throughout the gaming industry ever since. Me, I say, why go back to the complicated way of doing things? How about you lift a finger and actually talk to people, get to know them, find out what games they have, add
them as a friend, and play with them later... I do it and I get new friends every week. To meet people, you're going to have to learn how to be sociable - the system, no matter how good, is going to help you be able to do that. Sure, they may have the same
games as you and the same rep level with your idea, but they may still not want to play with you for whatever reason. You have to reach out - so do it.

You're living in the dark ages. I belong to a WoW raid guild with nearly 200 people in it, I'm currently running three sim racing leagues with probably another 100 plus people, I play on a StarCraft 2 team regularly and in addition still game on two consoles.

If I did things your way I'd still be looking for the people to do even a fraction of what I'm currently do. How is my way not social? I game weekly with probably 10 times the number of people you do and get to have gaming experiences that if I didn't do
it my way I wouldn't ever have.

I don't think you understand what I'm proposing or what it is I'm actually doing by belonging to these groups.

Keeping track of all that "clan" stuff maybe cool for some but I like the simple little button called Join Match.

I don't really see how this goes with the XBL Rep System either.

This kind of helped me put it into a perspective that we've been 'dancing around' but I just haven't put it into this wording.

It's [I believe] already been established that you put more emphasis on the gaming experience than the people. When it comes to MP I'm more in the middle. The experience people
provide is more prominent to me.

In short, it appears to boil down to you're more "quantity over quality" when it comes to the people you game with (setting the skills aspect aside). I wouldn't say that's not
social... but looking at it from a different perspective, some may actually say it has a less social aspect to it, because you have less opportunity to build and/or solidify good gaming relationships if you game with that many people.

As for you being surprised at my statement about family members on my FL... my family isn't a really 'close knit' kind. Combine that with the fact that very, very few of them have
any interest in video gaming and I can kind of get away with that approach.

I'm not sure it's quantity or quality but what you are saying is true to some extent.

I think it's applies more to the PC than the console but in many cases you need people to experience the games to their fullest. I played Everquest when raids required 72 people and you can't organize and find people without a system like this.

If I wanted to start a Forza 5 racing points series with a different track each week, practice, qualifying, race weekend similar to a PC sim it would be a nightmare with the current tools. Killer Instinct fight tournaments, Madden leagues, or a Scrabble
    tournament all the same problem.

It's not any less social in fact you have to be more social and tolerant because of the large number of people involved.

I'm aware this wouldn't be used by everyone but considering the number of websites that are out there for organizing on the console I think it's definitely needed and may broaden the experiences of many gamers who haven't played games to their potential.

I can't even imagine needing 72 people for a raid. Brings up a subject to mull over though. Considering the number of people complaining that Destiny actually required 6 people
for a raid, combined with the fact that they had to be on you FL... it does make me think there's a distinct difference between the attitudes of people who play on PC vs Console.

I know there are probably a lot who do both, but I doubt many would disagree it takes an adjustment to go from one to the other.

Debatable question of the day; Are the tools [in question] on console that way because the gamers are the way they are, or are the gamers the way they are as a result of the environment
    created by the tools...

Perhaps a "Chicken or egg" question.

Hey there, I am also at the "Avoid Me" rep and I was wondering if we could both try playing a game together to increase both of our reputations. (Sorry for typing this here, I keep trying to make a new forum post, but it is not working.

Blue they didn't have to be on your FL to raid in Destiny... As to the point most of which has been covered, I guess if your like Randver and need to play co-op and are prepared to play with randoms just to complete that part of the game then a system
    like his is better.

As for me Im more on Blue's apectrum, I have a tried and tested friends list and usually have someone available to help our for co-op campaigns etc that I am happy to party up with. if I join a competitive MP match without a team behind me I usually start
a party on my own, then lock it and just game without having to listen to wannabe rappers or foul mouthed gangsta wannabes, The current MS system works for me.

Different strokes for different folks (as that little dude used to say)
