Microsoft edge xbox series x version's sleeping tab option only works one way. I closed it off but tabs still go to sleeps after 7-8 seconds. I have to add each site manually to never go to sleep section. Is this a common issue?

How can we Xbox players turn of sleeping tabs on Xbox WITHOUT A SETTING FOR THAT

    Hello Anton,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I apologize for the inconvenience you’re facing with sleeping tabs on Xbox Edge. I understand how frustrating it can be when you’re unable to find a direct setting to disable them. Sleeping tabs are a feature that helps save power and improve performance by pausing inactive tabs in the background. While the option to turn off sleeping tabs isn’t explicitly available, there are some workarounds you can try:

    1. Adjust Power Settings:
      • Although the specific sleeping tabs setting is missing, you can modify your Xbox’s power settings to prevent tabs from going to sleep too quickly:
        • Go to Settings.
        • Navigate to Power & startup.
        • Adjust the Turn off after duration to a longer period.
        • This won’t directly affect Edge, but it will keep your console active for a more extended time, potentially preventing tab sleep.
    2. Specific Sites Whitelist:
      • While not ideal, you mentioned that adding specific sites to the “never go to sleep” section worked for you.
      • Continue using this workaround by adding essential sites you want to keep active.
    3. Restart Edge:
      • Sometimes, a simple restart can help:
        • Close Edge completely.
        • Reopen it and check if the tabs still reload after reopening.

If you have any feedback or suggestions about this feature, please let us know through the Xbox Insider Hub app or the Xbox UserVoice website.
I hope Microsoft considers adding this feature in a future update.

    Sincerely,

Tabs keep sleeping even without sleeping tabs on (xbox)

Yeah sadly unchecking the "sleeping tabs" option doesn't work but checking it and adding to "never put to sleep" works

Map interaction on Microsoft Edge - Xbox Series S

    Hi Carson,

I’ve received a response from the Edge and Xbox Community teams. Answers to your questions:

    1. Can I disable the on-screen keyboard when typing in Microsoft Edge or on Xbox in general?
No, you can’t disable the on-screen keyboard on the Edge Browser. You may continue to provide feedback to Team Xbox about this. What you can do is press the Windows key + ESC, and the keyboard will go away temporarily.

    2. Is there a way to stop other tabs from being discarded in Microsoft Edge on Xbox? It says when I hover over the tab: "this tab was discarded to save resources". Is there an option to cost resources in order to keep multiple tabs open?
In the Edge Browser, click on the three dots (...) and select Settings > System and Performance. Scroll down to Optimization Performance and toggle off these settings: ‘Turn on efficiency mode’ and ‘Save resources with sleeping tabs’, then restart the browser so the updated settings properly take effect. This should prevent the tabs from reloading to save resources.

There’s also the option to put inactive tabs to sleep after a certain amount of time (various options between 30 seconds and 12 hours), and add websites to the exception list so these are never put to sleep regardless of any settings.

    3) Would I be able to navigate the Xbox home screen, Microsoft store, or other apps with a mouse cursor, or is it only done with the keyboard arrows or controller?
Unfortunately, the mouse cursor will only appear in games and apps with mouse support. So, you’ll have to use either an Xbox controller or the arrow keys on your keyboard to navigate the home screen, Microsoft Store and any other apps.

Also, things to keep in mind as included here:

Using a mouse and keyboard with Xbox | Xbox Support

    • You can’t use a mouse on Home or within the Xbox user interface while navigating the dashboard.
    • You’ll need to use your controller to configure your mouse. Settings does not support mouse interaction.
    • Microsoft Edge works with a mouse but also has an on-screen cursor.
    Hope this helps.

Hello, first it's a pleasure to be able to help you today.

My name is welcome to the community.

Hello Eren, you've tried some procedure on Xbox like resetting Xbox while keeping games and Apps to see if and no longer goes into hibernation mode.

    Xbox One reset keeping Games:

Press the Xbox button to open the panel.

Select system > Settings > System > Console Information

    Select Reset console.

Restore and maintain my games and apps.

Rest assured, you won't miss games or saves

    Note:

-You need to know the email and passwords of your accounts when performing this reset.

If after the procedure it continues to go into hibernation mode this may be default on Xbox.
