Microsoft Edge not activating on Xbox one for the last month

HI there,

I have been using Edge for a while but since about beginning of January 2019 Edge fails to operate. I can click on the app's icon, it starts to open then fails. No error is given. I have tried to remove if from the Xbox but there does not seem to be an uninstall
option. I have switched the device off completely, as I do every time is has been used in fact.

Is there any way I can reset the Xbox without losing anything from the memory, i.e. not a factory reset?

I am presently unable to access the internet through the Xbox. my kids like to use the internet on the television and it also allows close supervision of doing so.

At this point it sounds like your only option may be a factory reset, as long as your saved are backed up in the cloud then all you'd have to do is reinstall your games after the reset.

As has been suggested already, sounds like a factory reset keeping all games & apps is required. Unfortunately, you will need to hook it up to the internet to do so. To double check, this is an Xbox One that you are referring to?

Hey there Lanark!

Sorry to hear that you're dealing with this issue concerning Microsoft Edge.

I mean, you can try what we call a soft reset. It's a factory reset that does not uninstall your games and is a great troubleshooting step overall.

Just make sure that before you go ahead with it, that you do know all of the sign-in information for any/all of your accounts(asthey
will be removed) and have easy access to your internet network.

Also make sure that you select the option denoted
reset and keep my games and apps.

Try performing a hard reset EXACTLY like this. Hold the power button on the console for 8 seconds or until the power shuts down completely. Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes. Plug the power cord back in and restart
the console.

Hey Lanark thanks for keeping in touch.

In an effort to add some clarity to the great advice already provided by both our Ambassadors and fellow XBFs, Edge browser is a part of the console's operating system so there is no way to uninstall it. The best course of action would be a Soft Factory
Reset as previously stated since this would refresh the OS plus push through any and all updates available.

Side Note: The Soft Factory Reset will kick off all the accounts that are signed into the console

We can also suggest clearing out the Network Card Cache (Alternate MAC Address) since when it gets full it might cause this type of errors.

IF THE CONSOLE IS CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET no progress or purchase data will be lost, what we accomplish by doing these steps would be to resync the profile to the cloud getting rid of any corruption as a byproduct.
