Microsoft customer service is a JOKE

since 7/19 I have contacted customer service everyday, and I have honestly never had a worse experience with customer support. My account says it's set to expire 6/08/18 (already passed) and wont allow me to access xbox live gold or renew my subscription.
I contacted chat support the first day and was told the escalation team would reach out to me within 48 hours and that the chat agent would follow up with me. I have emailed him every day since and he has ignored me so far. I also contacted phone support twice
and both agents told me I have to wait for the chat agent to reach back out. I've been an xbox fan since the first xbox came out, but this has left a sour taste in my mouth, and you can guarantee I'll be selling my xbox and never buying another microsoft product
again so that I never have to deal with this customer service.

Is there anyway to make contact with XBox live, just that I need to ask them a question but do not know how to, sorry I can not help you with your problem, only just joinned myself.

yes trying to access it on the same xbox. but purchased it on the free account. becuase thats where the wife put the ms points for rockband stuff.

The account does not expire.

You can close your account but you have to acknowledge several questions before you start the process to close your account and once its closed, that's it. No one can undo a closed account.

That's the only scenario that I can think of but since that day has passed and you're not using Xbox anymore, not much more to do.
