I don't know how many times i said that on various threads, way before the X1 was released.

-

What you need are an Amazon, Play.com, Origin, and any other retailer app on the X1, with the facility of all of these to offer Digital Download to your X1 from their servers.

-

This would then initiate, a price competition situation for digital game downloads, and specific digital retailers could offer different release day bonuses. You could then compare all of these prices, while you are looking at the Microsoft store, and see
which is the cheapest, or which is offering the best add-ons or extras.

-

It would smash the market wide open, and help the consumer out no end, with loads more extra choice.
It's not often that I agree with you HLS, but this is something I can definitely agree on. I don't think it'll happen, but it'd be great if it did...

Digital doesn't really appeal to me at this point. I like having physical merchandise and having the ability to resell it at any point. I will consider going digital with 'keeper' games or crazy xbox live store deals.

That will be necessary, if they want me to give up an asset (the disc).
Exactly - when I'm done with my games I sell them on EBAY and get average of $30 for them. Digital games have no packaging, no manuals, don't have to be shipped, don't have to be sold by a middleman retailer, and have ZERO resale value. You would have
to be near retarded to buy a digital game for anything more than $30.

@ CODukes4,

I only EVER buy games I believe I'm going to keep, so digital is exactly what I need (especially if there's a chance it's going to be cheaper).

@CorruptDNA,

The few games I have tried to sell never did or I never got much for them (still better than Gamestop though).

Considering the article is talking about UK price increases and the fact that here in US, games release at the same price both physically and digitally. I won't be getting my hopes up.

The only issue I have about downloading from the MS store, except price, is the speed, it took me 7 hours to download COD ghost on the XO, on the say the XO came out (thats on fibre optic), the fact is I am wanting to play on a midnight launch, its alow
quicker to go to the store queue for an hour and come home install and play.

I wouldn't have a problem if I could pre order and it would be downloaded and working at the midnight launch time, but at present all digital isn't going to happen unless its cheaper than the stores and I don't think that will happen.
Considering Ghosts is 39 gigs, how fast do you expect it to be? Im on fiber too, and it took about 5 hours
My issue isn't the time it takes, my issue is the time of the delay before I start playing.

Lets say I want to get Titan Falls and they do a midnight launch at game, I can go and pick it up be the first in the queue and be playing it within 30 mins of midnight.

Digital downloads should IMO allow me to be playing it within the same time, not because I should be able to download it within 30 minutes but because I can skip the queue and waiting and the developers can plan it to be downloaded at the right time, I have
no problem in this case waiting 7 hours, just allow me to start the download 6ish hours before launch.

However lets say my friends have a game and they convince me to buy it, I would need to be playing with them asap, and I think that shouldn't take 7 hours, 2-3 hours is acceptable IMO on my internet connection.

9. Considering the people's complaints on how long it takes to download a game, I think I'll be waiting on the digital revolution as well.

.

In addition to this, digital only is pretty pathetic since we've only been given 500GB of space to store these files, and there's absolutely no way to verify the amount of space left until the system tells you.

.

Imagine, downloading 5.7GB of a game that's 6.2GB in size and THEN the system tells you no more space is available.

.

This design wasn't planned out by Microsoft at all.

let me as you guys this...especially for those of you that like to sell back and deal with used games.. if a new version of a game came out on digital, how much cheaper would it have to be for you to want to purchase it digitally, knowing there is not trade
in / resell etc.

so the games are $59.99 if a digital version as say $49.99, would that be cheap enough to warrant going digital...or would it need to be in the $39.99 range or less?

11. I'd rather just buy a sixty-dollar game than a forty-dollar digital. Or just wait for the physical copy to go on sale. Most of the digital games I have bought digital have been ten dollars or less--save for some arcade titles.

For me, it's a matter of what I think a game is worth... and I have my own little system to help me decide.

First, if it's a AAA title that I'm almost sure I'll get lots of play time with (Halo, GOW, Skyrim...) I just buy it day 1, so it wouldn't make that much difference. Personally I still go with discs in that case because it's less time to stop and grab the game (from
the retailer I work for) after work than to go home and wait for it to D/L for hours.

But, when it comes to any of the many titles I'm not sure about, I use a rental service. That way I can try it out, play it for awhile and determine how much I feel it is worth to me. If I don't feel I will get my $60+ from it then I just wait until the price
falls into the range I'm willing to pay. That range could be anywhere between $29.99 and full price actually.

If they did drop digital prices (depending on how much of a drop) then I'd definitely be more inclined to buy digital. Where I work they don't sell used games and it's a long time before their games go to the 'bargain bin'. That means I'd have to go to the
local Gamestop to get a lower price and even then it would likely be for a used game, not a new one. A digital DL @ the right price would be a win/win for me, except for waiting on it to DL... but if it's a game which I'm willing to wait for a price drop in
the first place, then INBD.

I hope this news is true because for me this is literally the sole reason to go to PS4. Right now I can go to Amazon.com and buy several digital PS4 codes at a much cheaper price than those offered on the MS store.

For a lot of gamers, getting a good price for the games you want is hugely important and right now PS4 is winning that battle by a long shot. MS should not underestimate the importance of this issue.

I think if they do make digital cheaper they should drop the street dates on retail discs. When a store gets it, let them sell it for full price. Then release it digitally on release date for cheaper. It would keep retailers happy and we would have a choice
to go out and get it right away or wait a few days to save.

I still don't think going all digital is worth it unless you 100% know you will love it and play it for at least 3 years.

At least with a disc, if you grow bored you can pass is along.

Only good thing about games on demand being more expensive is it encourage people to still buy from shops and for the second hand market.

But if it is a game I wanted and it's cheaper to download, then I'd quite happy to buy it from the Xbox store.
