Microsoft Complete & Xbox Elite 2 Controller

Hi there,

I purchased an Xbox Elite Controller 2 back in March, and it recently started having stick drift problems. It got increasingly worse, so I shipped it off yesterday for a replacement or fix under the manufacturer warranty.

When I bought the Elite 2 directly from Microsoft in March, I also purchased Microsoft Complete for it, a three-year plan I think.

My question here is will this manufacturer warranty replacement/fix fulfill the obligation of the Microsoft Complete’s one device replacement over three years?

I read the policy/contract, and noted this section being the closest to leading me to an answer:

“B. COVERAGE DESCRIBED UNDER THIS SERVICE CONTRACT SHALL NOT REPLACE OR PROVIDE ANY DUPLICATIVE BENEFITS DURING ANY VALID MANUFACTURER’S WARRANTY PERIOD. During such period, anything Covered under the manufacturer’s warranty is the sole responsibility of
the manufacturer and shall NOT be Covered under this Contract; regardless of the manufacturer’s ability to fulfill its obligations.”

It makes sense that it wouldn’t replace the manufacturer’s warranty, should the issue be covered by it, but there’s nothing further on that fulfilling the policy of Microsoft Complete. It just seems that anything covered by the manufacturer warranty is on
the manufacturer.

Considering Microsoft Complete is more like a no-deductible, physical damage covering insurance policy than an extended warranty, it would leave me to believe that I would still have the one replacement through Complete even after utilizing the manufacturer
warranty.

Any clarification on this would be great! Thanks.

Thanks for reaching out to the forums. We understand you have question on a repair. If the controller is still under the original year warranty then this is used. The complete part wont kick in until the first year warranty is over.

Thanks for posting on the Xbox forums. We understand that you are interested in learning more information about the warranty for the Xbox Elite Series 2 controller. The Xbox Elite Series 2 controller has a warranty of 90 days. Users are able to purchase

an extended warranty for $20 within the first 45 days of purchasing the controller. This extends the warranty time to three years. We hope this information helps

it seems that the Elite Series 2 controllers are eligible for the "Microsoft Complete" plan, which provides extended coverage and support for your controller for up to 3 years. This coverage even includes damage from accidents, not just defects. Just keep in mind that after purchasing the controller, you have up to 45 days to request the plan.

At the bottom of the previous website, it indicates that this plan is also available for Elite Series 2 controllers. I will immediately quote the part where this is indicated:

"Microsoft Complete is available in select markets for Surface Go, Surface Pro, Surface Laptop, Surface Book, Surface Studio, Surface Type Cover and Pro Keyboards, Xbox One, Xbox One S, or Xbox One X, Xbox Elite Controller Series 2 and must be purchased at the time of device purchase or within 45 days after purchase with device inspection. In European countries, Microsoft Complete must be purchased from the same retailer from which the original device was purchased."
