    Microsoft Closed My Account Without Verifying If I Still Own It, What Can I Do?


    Microsoft’s policy on Two-Step Verification allowed them to lock me out of my own account without any actual recovery options, and instead of verifying my access or identity properly, they chose to permanently suspend the account and all my paid content.

    How Microsoft locked me out of my own account and refused to help. I lost access to all my digital games

    1/ I lost access to my Microsoft account. It's tied to my Xbox and several paid games.

    2/ I asked support to recover it. Their reply? “TSV (Two-Step Verification) is enabled. We can't help you.”

    3/ Instead of helping me recover it, they PERMANENTLY SUSPENDED the account. That’s their "solution."

    4/ They didn’t confirm if I still had access to TSV. They didn’t try to verify me. They just gave up and shut me out.

    5/ No options. No human contact. No empathy. Just “your account is gone forever.”

    6/ I paid for those games. I trusted Microsoft to protect my data, not destroy it.

    7/ This is not how you treat customers. This is not digital ownership.

Unfortunately, when TSV is turned on, we are unable to assist with an account recovery as TSV takes the account recovery completely out of control of customer service. We are unable to remove the TSV or make any changes to the security information on the account due to security protocols set up on the account and accepted in the Microsoft Services agreement when the account was created.   The only option we have is to permanently suspend this account to prevent any further use of the account. I have verified that the account is suspended and will remain so.   Although this may not be the resolution you were expecting, unfortunately, it is the only resolution we can provide.   Thank you so much for your understanding and patience during the resolution of the issue.     This is ridicilous because I have my TSV , its on my mobile phone number and my primary (gmail) . My gosh I am freaking mad rn.... They didn't even wanna check or asking if I have my TSV....

    I filled out the official Account Reinstatement Form here:

    Despite submitting the form, I received a response from Microsoft (CDOC Team) saying that because TSV is enabled, they cannot verify anything or assist further. Their final “solution” was to permanently suspend the account.

    This account contains multiple digital game purchases, subscriptions, and personal data. I’ve had this account for years and feel like I’ve been completely shut out, even though I’m the rightful owner.

    I’m not trying to bypass security, I’m asking for a proper verification process. Locking me out permanently without offering a real recovery path doesn’t feel like a fair resolution.

    Is there any escalation path, second review, or actual person I can speak to regarding this? I’m deeply frustrated and genuinely need help.

    Also as I only own a PC and really couldn't care less about achievements and game points and all that err stuff, do I need an XBL account at all to play my games that I've bought from my 'games for windows live' ? I've already removed several 'security flagged'
    items including silverlight and if I can still play without the account then I could close it. I'm told it's frozen at present but I can still play my games.

    Microsoft just don't care.........I have a family gold membership and the amount of hours I've spent trying to get my son signed in is ridiculous!! I can sign in to my own account to give permission for my son then it comes up that my account is not verified
    although I have verified the account on numerous occasions..................COME ON MICROSOFT DO SOMETHING>>>>>DONT JUST TAKE THE MONEY!!!!
