Microsoft caused me to miss Xbox sale

I attempted to purchase Mafia 3 during the 75% sale deal they had that ended last night. When I went to buy the game an error message popped up telling me to try again and that it was an error on their part. The sale has ended and now the game is at it's
original price point. When I tried to purchase the game it was within the time frame of the sale. I asked for help and was informed that I would have to purchase the game at the original price and fill out a refund request to try to get the difference refunded
to me. That is unnecessary work for a technical issue that is the fault of xbox/Microsoft. It also seems like a scam because I would purchase a game at full price and "request" a refund that I could be denied so I would end up losing money. Has anyone else
had this issue? This is completely unfair because it's Microsoft's mistake.
