Microsoft caused me to miss Xbox sale

I attempted to purchase Mafia 3 during the 75% sale deal they had that ended last night. When I went to buy the game an error message popped up telling me to try again and that it was an error on their part. The sale has ended and now the game is at it's
original price point. When I tried to purchase the game it was within the time frame of the sale. I asked for help and was informed that I would have to purchase the game at the original price and fill out a refund request to try to get the difference refunded
to me. That is unnecessary work for a technical issue that is the fault of xbox/Microsoft. It also seems like a scam because I would purchase a game at full price and "request" a refund that I could be denied so I would end up losing money. Has anyone else
had this issue? This is completely unfair because it's Microsoft's mistake.

Sounds like the best you can do is buy it then request a refund for the sale price.

Hi! If you get a refund request and explain this to them, you will probably get the difference back.

If you do request a refund like others have said, I would suggest not playing the game until they contact you about the request as it will help, and if they say no (not that I think they will) you can get a full refund easier

I don't think Microsoft will miss out on the Christmas Sales. They'll make more money from it, more then the release date sales.

First off, if this discount was offered by Xbox as an Xbox Gamepass offer, then it is up to Xbox and Microsoft whether or not they run another sale. If this sale was offered by GTA/GTA's developers, then it would be up to them. Regardless, don't be upset that you missed out this time. There will be many sales and opportunities in the future, which may even be better than this one. However, unfortunately, Xbox/Microsoft or Game developers generally will not restart or re-open sales/discounts for those who missed out, as they are usually open for a period of time longer than one or two days.
