    Microsoft can’t tell me why I have been banned


    Today, February 9th, I unexpectedly received a notification on my Xbox that I had received a ban. I then proceeded to follow the links to the enforcement page on the Microsoft website. After I logged in I was surprised to see that there was zero information about my suspension. There was a notification stating that I received a suspension. But according to the enforcement page I have no active enforcements, nor any previous enforcements and my strikes are at 0/8.

    So why was I banned? Well I then proceeded to find out via your customer support. I was first directed to the questions bot. There I found out that my ban would end on February 10th. So there must be information somewhere to tell me the details regarding my ban. However, because of the rules regarding appeal I cannot contact the enforcement team, due to my ban being 24hrs or less.

    I then tried to resolve the issue by going through the other channels available. I contacted the peer support (other Xbox gamers) several times before being put through to a specialist. The first specialist I spoke to (named Jarol), explained that they can see that I had been communication banned but that they cannot access the information regarding the reason. This conversation then sadly ended with “I am having technical issues” on Jarol’s end.

    Following this I had to painfully navigate the contact procedure again and again until I was connected with another specialist named Roberto. His lack of information mirrored that of Jarol’s and I requested to speak to his supervisor. The supervisor of the Xbox support team (named Jarley) also had no answers as to why I was banned. So I asked to make a formal complaint and he directed me to this email.

    I find it absolutely ludicrous that I can receive a ban notification, and then have no information what so ever as to the reason why I have been banned. All I have been told today is that I should just wait out the ban. But how can I avoid further suspensions if I do not even know the reason for this one. I must make you aware that I have mental health problems, and that this situation has made me extremely anxious and unwell. Im worried about even playing on my Xbox and communicating with anyone via party chat or messages.

    In summary I believe I have the right to know the reasoning for my ban, and I am utterly disappointed with the lack of help from Xbox “support”. Furthermore, there seems to be nowhere to contact and make a formal complaint.

    I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your Xbox account. However, if you're seeing an error message that says you have an active suspension, it's possible that your account has been suspended.

    As for the issues you're experiencing with the Game Bar, it's possible that these are related to the suspension or ban. However, it's also possible that there is a separate issue with the Game Bar itself.     My ban request was denied and I never understood why I was banned?

    Well the problem is I can’t see the reason on why I got banned when I go to the enforcement page obviously I violated TOS but it doesn’t tell me what I said or did to deserve a ban, to play Xbox for years and just get banned without a reason is kind of crazy to me.

    Do realize that providing the bandwidth for voice communications has an associated cost?

    Someone has to pay for this and that is part of what your Gold membership pays for.
    Ok then, now tell me this if we are paying for that then why you can ban people? They are paying for it and I think is not fair that you pay for something and get banned

    (In ps4 you can’t be banned, you can’t report messages and you just have to ignore people)

    Microsoft do not un-ban previously banned consoles as they are permanent. They do not ban people's consoles/accounts lightly, they do so after several investigations.

    The most common reason for a banned console is modifying it, but there are other reasons such as marketplace theft.



    You might want to post in section 14 in order to get an official answer. Although they might just delete your thread and post a link like below as they do not discuss console bans.
