MS working on a VR headset?

Looks like the patent war chest has been expanded in that direction also.

Perhaps this and illuminaroom are all sharing core technology on extending the screen in more subtle ways to add immersion.

Same here. You know what's weird? AR Glasses were rumored for XB1 before it even came out. So I'm surprised that the rumor mill for the AR glasses isn't bigger. Originally I saw it rumored by Xbox World in their last magazine before they went out of business(granted they got the thing about the USB ports and removable hard drive wrong).

Then just this year Microsoft bought like $150 million worth of patents from this group. I think we'll definitely see AR glasses. Hopefully at E3.

 

i just hope that people with glasses won't be left in the cold.

 

It would seem, that VR and AR, are really going to hit the scene this gen, with a force.

This could be the beginning of something special. Lets just hope it doesn't go the way of the Sega Master System Gun.........

I would say it's a steal. With the monetary backing Microsoft can give it.

$2,000,000,000 (What FB paid for OR) - $150,000,000 (What MS reportedly paid for certain patents) gives them $1,850,000,000 to use on R&D, and creativity, if they were to plough the same money in.

Not saying it is. But it saves them a crap load of money.

I can see what FB are doing though. Imagine a virtual FB world, where you could walk around, meet your mates without going out, chat, play games, virtually face to face, without leaving your chair. It could be a revolution.

Put your googles on, and join your 300 friends for a right royal night in, with tunes, and chat, and partying....

I personally like AR more than VR, as i see alot more use in it. So i'm liking the direction they are doing.

Why create a vr that although fun and interesting, would probably be just a gimick in games. Now AR has the potential to be really usefull.

And that watch diagram combined with the AR glasses makes me imagine having a holograph poping out of it.

Anyways, i really hope they go all out for AR instead of VR.

They have hinted at AR for Xbox One before, so maybe this is the big surprise they have for us at E3?
