Microsoft accounts getting hacked by rambler.ru hackers

A detailed thread on the account hacking issue

I am making a detailed thread on this topic as more people are getting hacked by rambler.ru malware. From my knowledge, this is happening mostly to ones those who own Minecraft or any other games that are costly and in high demand. Our hacked accounts are usually sold a Russian website with it being sold for like 3 cents.

As for me, my Microsoft account was hacked on the 19th of September. 2fa was on and it was connected to the Microsoft authentication for better security but to my surprise, it failed. I have seen other users complaining about the same thing that even though when they clicked to decline the security changes it didn't worked. And they got locked out of their account. On contacting support we are either said to go to account.live/acsr or they are asking us to fill up a form and submit it via their file transfer system and even ask for additional proofs to be attached with it. But to my notice, the accounts team or the escalation team doesn't even care about those proofs. My Xbox account is literally connected to my discord account. And if someone goes on my profile and clicks that discord icon it redirects to my profile which can be a good way to verify the user but as I have said before Microsoft doesn't give a damn. On the same day, my Genshin impact account was hacked which also had 2fa but I got it back after 3 days after the hack. On the other hand, there was an attempt to hack my Epic Games account, and hats off to epic games their security was the best and I was able to take action against it asap. As for Microsoft, well everyone doesn't have the money to buy an Xbox so they could have told their console id if they were hacked. And most of us gamers are teenagers who have spent a lot of hours in these games and made friends and don't have the money to buy the game again. And I cant stop myself from saying it that Microsoft wanted to have extra security by migrating the Mojang account to Microsoft account but it did completely the opposite, I think by this time Mojang would have either recovered my account or would have transferred it.

As for now, everyone who got hacked should come together and should complain against this everywhere. So we can be treated better and get out hacked accounts back.
