  1. Microsoft Account / Xbox Live profile - Account move/change

I recently created a new Microsoft/Outlook.com account (let’s call it Account A) which I want to use as my primary account for everything. I wanted to move my current Xbox Live profile (let’s call it Account B) to this new account but it didn’t work because
the system automatically created and linked a temporary Xbox Live profile to my new account (Account A).

I have been told that I would need to create a new “dummy” Microsoft account and then move the temporary Xbox Live profile from my new Microsoft/Outlook account to this one which will make my new account “free” of Xbox Live profile so I can move my existing
profile from my previous Microsoft/Gmail account.

I created a “dummy” Microsoft account (Account C – No Xbox Live profile associated to it). I logged on my Xbox 360 with my Microsoft/Outlook account (Account A) that has a temporary Xbox Live profile associated with. From my Xbox 360, I tried to move my
temporary Xbox Live profile (Account A) to the “dummy” account (Account C) but it said that I had to wait 30 days. I waited 30 days and then tried again but now I’m getting “Sorry, we can't change your Microsoft account when it contains funds. For more info,
go to Xbox.com/AccountSwap”. I verified my account (Account A and C) and there is no funds/payment method/subscription associated with it.

How can I proceed now? Why can you guys just remove the temporary Xbox Live profile that you automatically created/linked with my new Microsoft Account (Account A)? I never ask for a temporary Xbox Live profile and now I’m stuck in that looping issue of
moving accounts which doesn’t make sense to me….

    :)

How to password protect your Xbox LIVE profile

    Xbox LIVE password overview

It is possible to download your Xbox LIVE profile to several different consoles. You may need to do this if you have more than one Xbox 360 console, or you want to play games at a friend's house. In such a situation, you may want to password protect your Xbox LIVE account so that no one else can sign in using your profile.

Set the console to remember your password

Once you have downloaded your Xbox LIVE profile to a console, you will be asked if you want the console to remember your password. The Remember Password option is usually off by default. This means that you will be asked for your Microsoft account password every time you sign into Xbox LIVE.

If you don't want to be asked for your Microsoft account password every time you sign into Xbox LIVE, select the Remember Password option.

Change the password protection on your profile

You are required to set the Remember Password option after you download your Xbox LIVE profile. However, you can change the password protection on your Xbox LIVE profile any time.

If you don't need a password to sign in:

Sign into your Xbox LIVE profile. After you have entered your Microsoft account password, select the Remember Password option.

If you choose the Remember Password option, you will not be asked for your Microsoft account password the next time you sign into your Xbox LIVE profile.

If you need a password to sign in:

You can restrict access to your Xbox LIVE profile on any console using your Microsoft account password.

    Steps to follow

    1) Sign in using your Xbox LIVE gamertag.

    2) Under Settings, select Account and then Account Security

    3) Choose the option for Password at Sign In.

    4) Select Require Password Here

You will be asked for your Microsoft account password the next time you sign into your Xbox LIVE profile.

How to password protect your Xbox LIVE profile remotely

If you downloaded your Xbox LIVE profile to another console and it is not password protected, or someone has compromised your password, you can change the password from a remote location so that no one else can access your profile.

    Change your Microsoft account

    1) Sign into accounts.live.com using your Microsoft account.

    2) Go to Account Information and, next to Password, click Change.

You can also use your console to change your Microsoft account password.

Note: If the Xbox LIVE profile you downloaded does not require a password to sign in (You selected the Remember Password option), you will not be able to restrict someone from signing into your Xbox profile even if you change your Microsoft account password.

You can remove your Microsoft account password so that other people cannot access your Xbox profile on other consoles. This will ensure that a password is required before signing into your Xbox profile.

Remotely set a profile password from a computer:

    1) Sign into your Xbox LIVE account.

    2) Under Settings, select Account, and then Account Security

    3) Choose the option for Password at Sign In.

    4) Select On All Other Consoles.

Once you have done this, a password will be required to sign into your Xbox LIVE profile on all other consoles.

Microsoft Account / Xbox Live profile - Account move/change

    Hello,

It sounds like you're doing the right things so if there really are no payment methods attached then I'm not sure why it would be stopping you.

The best course of action may be to speak with Support directly who are going to be better-placed to deal with this type of thing than us on the forums:
    support.xbox.com/contact-us

You can select either "Chat with Xbox Support" (text-based chat) or the Phone option.

  5. Thanks for your reply! I think that I would have to do like you said and contact the support directly. I verified multiple time and there is no funds, subscription, credit card, paypal etc.. associated with my account. I borrowed an Xbox 360 from my friend
just to perform these steps as it is the only way to do it (as per Microsoft website).

changing xbox live acc email n stuff

    Hi there,

    -

Why the live account was created I can't say, maybe a device with that microsoft was account to use xbox music while there wasn't a xbox live account attached, that will cause one to be generated, but that is just a guess.

    -

but to be able to change your account back to your 'old' email you will first move that new account (player63063....) to a new microsoft account (without a xbox live profile)

    See the steps here:

support.xbox.com/.../manage-microsoft-account "Can I switch my gamertag to a different Microsoft account?"

Whenever that new xbox live account is moved, you will be able to use that account for your xbox live account.
