  1. Microsoft account unusual sign-in activity = Deleting Hotmail

I have a smartphone. I use Hotmail on my smartphone. My smartphone also tunnels through an everchanging VPN.

For the last month or two I have been receiving messages: Microsoft account unusual sign-in activity. Microsoft has changed a setting on their end whereby it is no longer able to handle the changing of IP addresses, and is now flagging them as suspicious.

    Such a smart idea, guys.

The result is that I am changing a complex password to simple ones as I am constantly having to change as my IP changes. As I have now been logged off my XBox.

    Enough is enough.

Hotmail is no longer able to handle my needs. I am deleting Hotmail and no longer using it as an email service. It'll be for Xbox only.

    :)

Microsoft account unusual sign-in activity = Deleting Hotmail

This is a scam that originated in 2019. I, too, have been constantly changing my password -- thankfully, I looked up "why I keep getting this unusual sign-in activity" today -- and found it is a scam. I have changed my password again! But this time I changed it legitimately on the Microsoft Site -- not the link provided by the "authentic" email. I hope it provides enough protection, as any of the other passwords might afford someone to hack the other information attached to that account!

Account hacked/someone keeps logging into my account

    Hi,

I'm sorry to hear you have such problems.

Please read this article: What happens if there's an unusual sign-in
    to your account
. The most important thing is to change your password. Then you can check the Recent Activity page for any unusual sign-in attempts and report them to Microsoft.

    Unusual activity in Microsoft Account.

Hi, kk_97! thank you for reaching out.

My name is AJ, I'm an Independent Advisor for the Xbox Community.

Unfortunately, there is no way to remotely remove an account from an Xbox console. However, if you already changed your account's password and added 2FA, whoever's using your account on Xbox will be asked to provide your account's new password and 2FA the next time they try to sign in.

I'd also suggest reviewing your security information at https://account.live.com/proofs/manage/additional to make sure it's up to date.

If you received an email or SMS alerting you to an unusual sign-in attempt to your account, but you haven't done anything unusual with your account recently, follow these steps to review your account security:

Sign in to the Security Basics page of your Microsoft account.

Select Analyze Activity to check for unusual sign-in attempts on the Recent Activity Page. If you see account activity that you're not sure is yours, let us know and we can help protect your account. If it's in the Unusual Activity section, you can expand the activity and select It wasn't me. If you're in the Recent Activity section, you can expand the activity and select Protect Your Account.

If you think someone might have accessed your account, go back to the Security Basics page and select Change Password. Create a strong password that you can remember and don't share it with anyone. You can use the Authenticator app to improve your security: https://support.microsoft.com/accou...nticator-9783c865-0308-42fb-a519-8cf666fe0acc

Hope I helped and see you soon

    Changing email

You can have multiple email addresses linked to your MS account that you can use to sign in. As long as you keep the Hotmail email on the account it will still be an active email that you can use and it will not be deleted once you remove it from the account
though it will be deleted and not be able to be used again. So just add the Gmail account as a second email and make it the primary email and leave the Hotmail email on the account also and you should be fine.
