Microsoft Account- Unable to use

Thanks for coming to the forums. If you purchase any gift card through rewards, it will be added to that account. Also same for buying digital codes, there is a way but you must make sure to select digital code. The easiest way would be to add the card on
the child account purchase the item or currency on his account. The other alternative is when you are out again, at any place that sells gift cards you can purchase one there. Just checked online you need to select Xbox gift card digital code. Here is a link

unfortunately, you can't use your microsoft account balance to buy gift cards. But you can gift something to your kid with the money on your account.

Hi, have you tried rebooting your console? You might want to also redownload your profile. That could refresh it. Or you can try powering off your console by holding the power button for 10 seconds. Then turn it on. Hope this helps.

To use your balance for them, yes.

The money can be used for 360 content, but the website and One stores are set up differently than the 360 store and do not recognize those funds as a valid payment method for 360 content.
