Microsoft account required?

You can use your gmail account, that's what I use. The "Microsoft account" is basically just Microsoft's way of you being able to tie everything together, but you can use gmail as the login email.

it is a microsoft game therefore requires a microsoft account to use it regardless of which store you purchase from, same goes with lots of other games that also require an ubisoft account, epic account, rockstar account the list goes on.

How are you operating a gamertag?

A gamertag requires a microsoft account to be on live, a microsoft account requires an email.

If you had an email but don't know, you'll want to deal with that quickly or more problems will arise.
