    Microsoft Account Payment Method


    I am unable to add a payment method to my account. I am trying to change my Xbox gamertag but I am unable if I can't add a payment method. Having trouble adding payment methods has been an issue I've had for a long time. I've tried 2 different cards and even PayPal and none are being accepted. How do I fix this.

    You can't use your Microsoft account as a payment method for a subscription. You need a payment method that supports ongoing payments like a credit card or PayPal.

    Sorry, it is not possible to get a gold membership with microsoft points. You will need to add a payment method to your account and use that payment method to upgrade to gold status. Payment methods can be added here: commerce.microsoft.com

    It depends on what type of payment method you're using. Are you using Microsoft account funds, or an outside payment method (debit/credit card)?
