Microsoft account erased but Gamertag still active 3 months later...

The question is in the title, and the situation bothers me...

As you can understand, I erased an old Microsoft account to recover my Gamertag. The deal was that the account would be COMPLETELY removed 2 months later ("associated services", blah blah).

Nonetheless, 3 months after, and nothing has changed: my Gamertag is still existing, and no way to recover my nickname for my new account...

I precise that I called Microsoft's hotline, but the guy on the phone explained me that I needed to wait 3 months to see my old account permanently deleted. He added it was well defined in the terms and conditions, etc. And that was obviously false because
it is clearly written "two months" in those famous conditions.

I talked with players in the same situation (with nicknames still not removed many years later!), and it appears clear that Microsoft is in complete illegality.

Indeed, how is it possible to ensure full and final closure of an account while this account is finally here and simply unattainable but rather persistent in online databases and Microsoft directories?

I would thus be able to speak with a competent member of Microsoft Xbox service, in order to ensure what was promised to me.

What are you talking about

You cannot erase an xbox live account

If you erase a ms account that's different

Completely different

You can never ever.erase.a.online account

If you are talking about privacy law

you are doing is erasing the personal.data but.not.the account

No account is erased there is.a 5 year limit on gamer tags yes now.as long as you don't login

 

If you want to change your current tag to the old tag why didn't you do it correctly

Change the name on the old account and then change your new account 3 months later

Unless your account is banned

Closing an account for personal data removes your credit card and name address etc anything to do with personal.info

However your game data is not.personal.info and fyi international laws does state they have to retain data for 5 years including eu

Saying legal stuff only locks your thread and send you to ms legal

 

The personal information. Laws only state personal data but your gamer tag isn't personal info

Noone can get your name etc from your gamer tag unless you put your name or etc in your bio then it's your own fault

Once an ms account is closed you cannot neither ms or.xbox can look up your info however the gamer tag will still exist untill.the next reset wave

You should've done it correct if you wanted the name back unless you were banned

If I had known before, I would have changed Gamertag on my previous account, but it's too late now, because I can't access it anymore...

But I disagree. When I deleted my Microsoft account, it was written that all associated services would be removed as well. Anyway, I see, I will wait 5 years...

It removes the ms account from the xbox account yes but you don't understand xbox account is an account too

You only made it worse by not making it recoverable.and then now.you have to wait for the next gamer tag purge

Your data has to exist for the legal requirements for law enforcement as a backup it doesn't mean your gamer tag will exist in 5 years

It just means you need to wait for the 3 year limit since you loged in before the gamer tag is purged
