    Microsoft account does not own Minecraft even if I bought it on a Mojang account


    The subject of the post is pretty self explainatory: I bought Minecraft in 2017 on my Mojang account and a couple months ago I completed the migration and I've also been able to play Minecraft on vanilla launcher. Now I tried to play on modded launchers (both ATL and FTB) and could not login to my Minecraft account because they said I don't own Minecraft on this account. I then looged into my account on my browser and noticed that the game is not present. Why does this happen? How can I get back the game on the account?

    Hi MatteoLandrino, I hope you're doing great out there despite the issue that you're experiencing. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regard to your concern.

    Please double-check you are logging in to the same Microsoft account you used to migrate your Mojang account.

    Make sure you are not logging in with your Mojang account. Migrated accounts will only be able to log in with your Microsoft account.

    Once confirmed, kindly sign out then restart your PC before signing back in using the correct Microsoft account.

    I do not have a receipt for Minecraft Java Edition on my Microsoft account because I bought it through the Mojang store before the Microsoft/Mojang account integration that happened a few years ago. Thus, my Microsoft account doesn't have a receipt for it because I didn't buy it through Microsoft. I can give my Minecraft username as evidence that I had a copy of Java Edition but besides that I have no other evidence. Now that my Mojang account has been migrated to Microsoft, I can't log in to it to prove I own a copy of Java Edition.

    Hello again, I don't know what kind of email you used to open your Minecraft account, if you used an email with a Microsoft domain you can try to retrieve it using the form, however if it wasn't, I believe that Mojang support informed you correctly and it will not be possible to recover your account.
    What happened was they had a minecraft account with Mojang (it had NOT been migrated to a Microsoft account yet) and someone got into his Mojang account and then proceeded to migrate his minecraft account to their own Microsoft account (not one the OP owns)

    Migrated Mojang account to Microsoft account issue.

    Yes, the migration completed successfully. It showed me the confirmation message and everything. My skin is even transported to the Microsoft account, and I can log in with it both in Mojang site (It no longer lets me log in with the Mojang account, only with Microsoft account), and the launcher. But it says I don't own Minecraft java Edition, and only lets me play demo.
