Microsoft account deleted?

Recently I tried to login to a game that uses your Microsoft account to login, and my Microsoft account apparently no longer exists. I've tried using other accounts that the account could potentially be changed to, but they aren't linked to my Xbox account like the one that I'm trying to get into is. If anyone knows if theres a way to get the account back, or if I am able to get my Xbox account under a different Microsoft account, please help me.

if it is a Microsoft email address (live.com, hotmail.com, outlook.com) then yes the whole account will delete including the email address.

You must use your Microsoft account to keep it active. This means you must sign in at least once in a two-year period to keep your Microsoft account, and associated Services.

The email is correct and I used the account to login to xbox the day before.

When was the last time you had used your account? Are you checking the email if that is correct? If you are getting an error that the Microsoft account does not exist when you try to log in to it, that usually means the email is not a Microsoft account or it got inactive but if you have been using this before, you must have used a different Microsoft email for that.

One thing to note is you may not be able to close your account with an Xbox Live account associated with it (I'm not 100% sure on this one). If that is the case, you could create a "dummy" Microsoft Account, transfer your XBL account over there, then deactivate
the original.
