    I wonder what third party accessory was used to connect the headset directly to the console (mentioned in Aross31285's post)? I guess it's just a headset jack to usb plug converter with a LONG chord, although it could be something else that can receive
    wireless audio data from the console.

    I received a response from Turtle Beach tech support, and they're convinced that my headset adaptor unit needs replacement. I doubt it, since the two I have for my x41's work fine on the 360 but not on the One. I only have one adaptor for my new XO One's,
    but I really don't think it's the problem.

    It is almost certainly a problem with audio data communication between the controller and the console.

    Has anyone tried somehow resetting their XBox One to factory conditions, keeping it offline so that it can't update, and then just checking to see if the headsets receive sound through the controller? I don't know how one would test the mic on a factory
    settings unit without being online, but receiving any sort of sound pre-update would prove the popular theory around here that an update was at fault.

    I'm not near my XBox One right now, otherwise I might try it.

    XBox mic icon muted permanently

    Following a recent update my headset has stopped working, both in terms of the microphone and the earphones.

    It's not the headset, and controllers both work otherwise.

    In the top right hand corner of the screen there is a microphone icon, which is showing as muted. I cannot find anywhere you enable this.

    The controllers are both updated, and both of them are showing the volume button in the controller setup menu as not choosable.

    I see that this has been a common problem, and I have spent about two hours trying to fix it according to feedback, to no avail. Any new ideas?

    Xbox One Problems with microphone

    In the past week 2 of my microphones have stopped working out of nowhere. I feel like my controller might have destroyed both headsets. Is there anyone else who has had this happen?

    Turtle Beach Support has told me the same thing that the headset adapter could be the problem, but they're not completely sure. Other users have posted here that replacing the headset adapter did not fix the issue.

    The only way I am able to get around the issue is to use a pair of earbuds that came with a Samsung smartphone. This fix will only work in party chat, not in game chat. Also, the quality is horrible as I have been told by several friends that they can barely
    hear me.

    It is unbelievable to me that Xbox support has not addressed this issue in over a year, and now they don't even seem to answer us at all.

    Just ran into this exact problem with my Elite Controller, it is a software bug with how it handles the 3.5 jack and the data port. I've been using some sennheisers for private audio they have no mic but the microphone was turned on in the quick menu. Upon
    unplugging those and plugging in the chat headset my voice wouldn't pickup so I read through this thread and thought maybe if I plug th e 3.5 back in and disable the mic in the quick menu something will happen. Sure enough when plugging in the chat mic again
    my voice picked up. It seems that the software is reserving the chat channel for the 3.5 jack for some unknown reason. I would hope Microsoft could figure it out or make an update where upon removing a mic it closes the channels therefore giving it nothing
    to reserve. Idk I'm not a software engineer.

  7. I can't hear anybody through my TB XO One headset, but they can hear me. Game chat is fine, but in party chat it doesn't work. It shows me speaking when I speak, and my friends tell me they can hear me, and if I unplug the headset, I can hear people speaking
    through the TV speakers.

    The fact that game chat still works proves that it's Microsoft's software, not my headset, adapter, Xbox or controller.

    Oh my gosh finally people can relate to the problem I am having. Except mine gets even worse with their *** updates.. So one time my Xbox said I needed to update my controller, I did so and half way it stopped.. Completely ruined my controller and it wouldn't
    turn on.. Fortunately MS admitted this happened to a few people and replaced my controller. However just this last March Update once again MS forced me to update my Xbox.. As soon as I did my Kinect stopped working and wouldn't turn on anymore. It was working
    perfectly fine with my Xbox the day before. Their updates are killing my Xbox and they don't give a ***. I can't even use any mic except my Samsung buds.. Please someone help

  9. Okay, let's make it clear that the problem being discussed here is when the mics of any headset aren't working on the XBox One at any time. Not "It works in party chat but not in the game" (or vice versa). Not, "My TB are fine but XX headset doesn't work."
    The situation is that the mic has stopped working on functioning headsets (that work on other XBox Ones or the 360). Maybe the problems are all connected, but "sometimes working" should be on a different thread than "it has stopped working."

    We believe it is a software issue. The above mention of how the 3.5mm port is being used by the software could be a lead, but that user seems to have a different issue.

    Someone posted that there was a peripheral work around - some way to get two-way chat audio data to and from the XBox One console without using the controller- but we don't know what that is. Maybe some sort of USB microphone, but I don't know.

    None of my 3 mics will work in any of my controllers. It's been a couple days now and I've yet to find a fix or an answer from Xbox support.

  12. Since this thread has been marked as "solved," and it clearly has not been solved beyond it being removed from any lazy support technician's to-do list, maybe we should all just create support requests of our own. I mean, they have to know that this is a
    problem by now, but maybe it would help. If anyone finds a solution or work around, they can report back here.

    2 controllers tried and 2 headsets tried and my mic's still don't work....guess its time to start emailing I've had a few posts on here with no input from them.

    I'm having the same issue as well. Below is everything I've done along with trouble shooting via chat.

    Changed NAT STRICT to OPEN

    Hard reset on console

    Modem reset w/ hard reset

    Purchased 3 new controllers w/ 3 new Microsoft headsets

    MAC clear w/ reset

    Disconnected everything for 12 hours

    Replaced batteries

    Used USB card as power supply

    All controllers updated

    My mic is not working as well, as of April 16th, 2 hours into The Division it just stopped working did all trouble shooting listed, purchased new Xbox One controller, new Xbox One head set, open nat, hard reset, unpuged power supply, game sound & game chat
    come through fine. WoT game chat shows for 2 seconds then nothing. Xbox 360 some years ago had the same issue, however it was resolved much faster than this. Faith be in the Microsoft personal to correct the issue. I continue to check everyday, cuz you know
    they wont send an "All is good to go message. sorry for the inconvience.........P.S. thanks for spending another $100 " lol..........
