Microphone showing mute for over 3 weeks

It could be the hole isnt connected and needs fixed ive had this problem with a used controller but ive had it also from accidently dropping my controller

Sorry to hear it. It may be the controller. Sometimes the 3.5 mm jack can get knocked out of placement causing issues with the mic. I would recommend trying an Xbox headset adapter to see if that helps. The adapter will keep the jack steady.

I've been using one exclusively since the Xbox One came out and have never had an issue with my jack or headset.

Thanks for coming to the forums with your issue. We recommend trying the headsets on a phone or PC to see if they work correctly. If they do it is most likely the 3.5mm jack on the controller that is not working. If that is the case, if the controller is
in warranty (less than 90 days old) can get it replaced that way. If it is over that, you can try the

stereo headset adapter. This plugs into the controller via the USB type connection next to the 3.5mm jack.

Hi, in party there is a setting to mute your microphone, if that is pressed it mutes your microphone without turning the light on the headset on.

Check in your party settings to see if your microphone is muted. If this works for you or if you need more help, post a reply!

Have you tried muting the Kinect under Settings>Kinect Settings?

Also, Try using a wired controller. Sometimes a battery problem can affect the Mic in strange ways. If you dont have one, try using a Play & Charge Kit, or buy a Wireless Headset. Most standard cellphone microphones (over the ear/ earbuds w/ built in microphone)
will work well with the 360. If you have a friend with a controller, try using your mic in their controller. If that fixes it, the controller is likely to be the culprit. If not, you probably are looking at a new mic. The speaker Icon can show up sometimes,
and it CAN SHOW UP EVEN IF THE KINECT IS MUTED.
